Dragon Age: Inquisition multiplayer builds on Mass Effect 3 legacy

Joystiq: Like its sci-fi predecessor, Dragon Age: Inquisition is the third game in a traditionally single-player series and, like its predecessor, it will feature a four-player co-op mode. BioWare is no doubt hoping to once again draw players into an addictive spiral of late nights and weapon pack unlocking, and based on my experience at PAX Prime this year, they stand a good chance of succeeding.

The story is too old to be commented.

Legacy? The online in ME3 was pretty bad after a while, it was repetitive and boring. In the end it was totally unneeded and I wish that extra time was spent on getting the omega DLC finished for the main game

I thoroughly enjoyed ME3 MP, so this is great news for me

Yeah I loved the mp in ME3. I think it was one of the best put together mp released and the way it handled microtransactions was truly great. I never brought any cash items, but I had all of the best guns and characters because I played a ton. Plus people that did buy packs just got access to random stuff, so it wasn't guaranteed that they would get better stuff then me. But even if they did it was okay because the mp was coop, so them getting good loot benefited me.

I am really looking forward to the mp in DA:I. ME3 mp was excellently executed, the only bad thing was that playing it was required in order to get the best ending originally. I don't see them making that mistake again.

I don't get how people liked it so much... It was a repetitive "fight the waves!" gametype, something you'd expect in a mobile app. A coop campaign or competitive multiplayer would have been much better.

I can see the same thing happening with this game. The MP is going to get old fast, then people will move on to their favourite MP games again. It remains to be seen if Bioware can create a complete game again, now that they've been exposed to EA.

"Dragon Age: Inquisition multiplayer builds on Mass Effect 3 legacy"

So that means hours of grinding through boring stages just to unlock a character that someone else managed to unlock after their second match?

If that random loot bull shit that was in ME3's mp returns then forget it.

So more bad and needless multiplayer that will ultimately affect the story? Good job Bioware, already showing that you still can't keep promises...."The Story is first and foremost" "There won't be a multiplayer". Keep the lying going Bioware let's see if you can make a bigger problem for yourself than Mass Effect 3.

What are you talking about? Did you read the article? The multiplayer is more closely tied to the story than ME3's, but the multiplayer does not have any effect on single player. It's still separate and in it's own lane.

Godmars2901565d ago

Your and Baka-akaB's comments contradict each other.

What I get from the article is that multiplayer will be more "involved" with the singleplayer campaign, that the characters in it will have a defined background instead of just being faceless grunts, and that those playing through the game normally will not feel that they have to pay for crap offered to those who want to get through it faster. meaning micro-transactions.

In other words all I'm hearing is Bioware saying whatever they need to sell the game while the actual experience may and likely be different. That someone just wanting SP will have to play MP for full story context, and if you want better equipment you'll have to pay extra for it. Typical EA BS.

"Singleplayer content is NOT locked behind MP," Dragon Age Executive Producer Mark Darrah tweeted"

This the difference that i cared about , as you needed the mp in ME3 , to unlock or enjoy everything in your sp campaign , wich is ridiculous .

You wont have to play mp to enjoy the sp story , doesnt mean they wouldnt add extra stories for a mp mode .

"Unlike Mass Effect 3, multiplayer in DA:I will not impact your single-player game. Playing MP won’t unlock anything in SP and vice versa. The MP mode runs alongside SP in a narrative sense, with the MP characters functioning as hirelings of sorts for the Inquisitor, running operations on their behalf."

Baka-akaB1565d ago

They went out of there way multiple times to explain that this time around you wont be forced to MP for solo completion

Multiplayer looks to be really fun in this game, as long as there's enough missions and areas for it so it doesn't get too repetitive too quickly. I know it randomly mixes up areas to an extent for missions, so that's definitely good for replay value.
