Metal Gear Solid is a big deal for a lot of people. Cinematic gaming probably wouldn't be where it is today if Hideo Kojima and his team hadn't brought us the original PlayStation game and for many the series stands way ahead of the pack. It's been far from a smooth ride though. Awkward controls and a convoluted, often overacted story made the PlayStation 2 games an acquired taste. The question looming over the head of MGS4, then, isn't if it'll please hardcore fans (it unquestionably does) but if Kojima has seen where the series needed improving. The fact that this is the single best PS3 exclusive released to date should answer that question for you.

but seriously who cares about reviews and scores. as long as YOU have fun with the title thats all that matters. just like i am having fun with MGS4 :P
same as with a good movie, gotta listen to it on ~max volume with subwoofer..hehe :)
It seems like the only factor causing game play to be the lowest rated on everyones reviews is the lack thereof. However it has just as much game play time as CoD4/Halo3/GoW/Etc. Etc. Why is everyone complaining about cinematics that even though you're watching -- YOU CAN STILL INTERACT!! What other game allows you to peer through the eyes of the main character during a "cut scene"? What other game allows you to view flash backs from previous games during "cut scenes"? I just don't get it. The game play is flawless, the lack of game play seems null...why not a 10 like it deserves?
