Dead Rising 3's massive pre-load will fill up your hard drive

You can now pre-load the game files for the PC version of Capcom's zombie-smashing action game Dead Rising 3, but unless you've got a monster hard dive you might want to clear some space.

It'll take up a surprisingly huge 30GB of space. Yowzers. Probably a good thing they start letting you download it early.

Is 30gb still considered 'massive'? My 3tb HDD won't even be tickled by this :D
I was expecting nextgen games to come close to 100gb, MGS4 had 50gb 6 years ago.

Compression of data technology have improved during these recent years.

Volkama1200d ago

MGS4 took up 9gb when installed to the PS3 hard drive. The rest of the blu-ray was filled with duplicated data in an attempt to compensate for the slow read speed of the format.

Game sizes are definitely still on an upward trend.

9gb was minimum installation right? i think post trophy patch you could installeverything and it was around 25gb.

not 100% sure though

I'm saying lol titanfall was 50 gigs and my hard drive barely noticed it. 30 is no big deal but I'm not getting it because of the 30 fps lock.

Double post (meant to reply to Bloodborn).

Mikefizzled1200d ago

Well it is like 35gb on Xbox One so it shouldn't be too much of a surprise surely?

LAWSON721200d ago

Maybe you are not a PC gamer but that really is not near as massive as you think.

hkgamer1200d ago

didnt read the whole article since it was sure click bait or a console gamer.

i dont think many pc gamers care about hdd space unless they reformatting.

back then when i used to download br movies onto pc it was around that. it was quicker for me to download then actually rip the movie myself :P

articles a joke.

30gb on a PC? thats barely anything.

most of the pc gamers i know have atleast 500gb ssd for os and other software, the other hdd would be atleast 2tb and then they also have a minimum of 1tb external.

30gb? pshhhh....

boneso821198d ago

Really? Im a PC gamer and i know quite literally hundreds of other PC gamers from groups and forums and friends etc. Only a small percentage of them have anything bigger than 120-128gb SSD and 1tb HDD. Granted, this is still plenty and 30gb games shouldn't worry you but to say "most" have 500gb ssd and 2tb hard drive is very mis-leading.

Im using a 1tb HDD and no SSD and have tons of games on there riht up to 50gb, i never worry about space available.

So i agree and disagree with you simultaneously ;)

hkgamer1197d ago

i understand what you are saying. but if you read carefully i said most of the pc gamer i know. not most pc gamers.

i cant randomly say or predict what pc gamers are like so i wont generalise them together. just saying from what i know of my friends. im now a pc gamer so i dont know too many, but the ones i do know have similar set up
