Hands-on Impressions of Shadow of Mordor From PAX Prime 2014 | Entertainment Buddha

EB's Matt Heywood writes, "After getting some hands-on time with Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor at WB’s booth on the Pax Prime show floor, I can report that gamers should be excited that its released date was bumped up a week to September 30, 2014. This game is a blast to play, just hope the entire experience holds up like the demos I've played.

Was totally off my radar till I watched a demo... had no idea they were trying so many innovative things with AI and so forth.

Only downside, a personal one, is it seems more or less straightforward kill, kill, kill, which is what they are shooting for I'm sure. I just want so much more to do in games these days ever since Fallout and Skyrim and junk.

Still, looks top of the line for what it sets out to be.

You can kill or not kill. You can dominate orcs and have them fight for you, or pass them by stealthily. The Nemesis system is the key to making the AI unique in each playthrough, and how players can tackle objectives. There is a fair amount of killing though for certain objectives and quests.

I want this to be good so bad... I'll be gutted if it doesn't hold up.

I'm looking forward to this game.

I'm still not convinced on this one.

If it all holds up and reviews are positive would that change your mind, or are you just not into Tolkien video games?
