I'm glad some of JRPG devs already move on to PS4. FF, KH, Persona, and now this... now we only need a new Suikoden and nextgen Tales

Inception3522d ago

new Suikoden for PS4 would be cool, but i cross my fingers since Konami disbanded Team Suikoden years ago and they don't localize the latest Suikoden for PSP >.<

I wonder how this will turn out now that the original team is mostly gone. I doubt it will even have sprites anymore.

I'd be pretty surprised if they didn't use sprites. They'd have to move away from 2D animation altogether for that to make sense, and I'm having a hard time imagining that it will. You never know, I guess.

"I wonder how this will turn out now that the original team is mostly gone."

I wouldn't worry too much. Not to sound cynical or overly critical of the Disgaea series, but the series has a very clear blueprint that the games follow. This doesn't just include things like having an item world or being a strategy RPG, but even minute things like the Yoshisuna has looked the same since Disgaea 2 and has been the rank 39 sword since Disgaea 3. Naturally this makes the game a little easier to develop, as they go in with the knowledge that a Disgaea game must have this or that and are well aware of how to handle certain characters (Asagi is all about getting her own game, Laharl fights to be the main character, Zetta is extremely arrogant, etc).

I want fully animated anime cutscenes ala persona. They in battle ish can look like x com.

Dread3522d ago

Can't wait. I love the series.

This and Persona 5 are my most wanted Playstation 4 games.

Hanso3522d ago

Mine are
Disgaea 5
Ys
Bloodborne
UC4
Persona 5
Witcher 3
Batman AK

Dread3522d ago (Edited 3522d ago )

cool

I am not interested in UC4 or Batman AK

and I will probably pick up the Witcher for my xbox one. I ususally pick up multiplats for my xbox because i prefer the controller and achievements :) As long as the frame rate is solid its a go. Dont care much for resoluction as long as its 720 or higher.

happy gaming.

How Developers Adapted to the End of Sony's Handheld Line

VGChartz's Adam Cartwright: "When Sony entered the world of handheld gaming in 2004, it provided a new opportunity for developers to chase a different market than had existed before. Over the next decade we saw multiple companies, from both western and eastern shores, shift their pipelines to focus on providing software for both the PlayStation Portable and its successor the PlayStation Vita. Despite the latter’s relatively weak hardware sales, there were still successes to be found on the console, which meant that it was easy to plan a future around being a Vita developer.

By 2014, though, it had become clear that Sony was no longer interested in pursuing the handheld market and this left a number of companies in difficulty – they’d either need to adapt to the shifting times, or face dying out altogether. In this article, I’m aiming to look at what happened to developers who made both the PSP and Vita their main focus, how they adapted to the demise of Sony handhelds, what future plans they made, and how well they’re doing in the current gaming market."

The moved to the Switch from Vita. Some of the exact same games or similar games from those developers. Loved the Vita and glad to see those devs still have a platform to release lesser budget fun games.
