Preview - PES 2015 | Does gameplay matter more than licenses? | ArabicGamers

ArabicGamers writes:

Ten years ago there was something called Pro Evolution Soccer, and it was the football game to end all football games. It had fantastic gameplay, great physics and fast end-to-end matches. It also had Ryan Greggs instead of Ryan Giggs, but that didn't matter. (PES 2015, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

For me gameplay is more important. I play sports games in local multiplayer most of the time, licenses are only secondary (but important nonetheless). I hope PES15 can impress me this year as I'm not interested in FIFA.

Used to love the PES games, and I think gameplay is more important, but the argument is probably going to be irrelevant as the last few PES games have got nowhere near Fifa for gameplay anyway and I doubt it'll change.

All I know is the hold EA has on sports needs to end. They're not even trying anymore...

NHL15 on next gen is so blurry and they somehow couldn't implement EASHL in the two years it took to make...must have the worst net coders in the business at EA or they wanted people to buy 2 copies, the next gen version and the last gen version so they can play with their friends.

Yes. My thoughts exactly. The NHL Demo was off putting.
2K has to take on NHL again. They have NBA locked down anyway.
If Konami would invest some money in licensing they would also sell a million more copies at least.

PES5 FTW!

Anyhow, I haven't liked any of the pes games since 5 though last years was OK, it was riddled with cheating AI & some retarded goalkeeper AI.

As for the modding & save editing, I made the PES 201/2/3/4 PC & PS3 to Xbox converters, so us Xbox folk could get PNG support :-) since MS did not allow devs to use the USB ports, but I'm done with PES regarding the editing, it requires to much time & with each DB update it breaks all your work :-(.

Yep,gameplay does matter more than licences. You can get great option files from modders. However the gameplay just hasn't been up to it in recent years, so even if they had all the licences id have passed. Lets hope, as i hope every year, they get it right this time.. just for old times sake.

I take gameplay over licenses every time. That being said, FIFA has stepped their gameplay up too. I am a PES diehard. I will say that the last good PES was PES 13. It was almost the perfect combination of sim/fun. However, it took a goalkeeper patch to achieve this. PES 14 looked great, but there were just too many issues with the new engine. It wasn't responsive and had real framerate issues. I am in the camp that sincerely hopes that PES 15 will achieve what PES 14 was trying. I could see some sparks of genius in that game. Unfortunately, it was after several patches that came far too infrequently and too late.

I found it funny how the author mentions the soundtrack. I will note that I enjoy PES soundtrack much more than fifas pop mainstream crap soundtrack.
