Played the game for 'free' through PS+ and quite liked it. If this release finally has ALL DLC-content included, and doesn't DLC-milk anymore, they'll get my money.

If they once again decide to DLC-milk the hell out of this, like they have done, then I'll stick with my 'free' PS+ version.

Poor quality video btw. Hard to see how the PS4 version will look. Hopefully stunning, considering the game already looks great on PS3.

Volkama3519d ago

About time a DOA game was announced, but they should be moving onto number 6 now imo.

Fighting game sequels are mostly iterative anyway, so give us fresh new visuals and spectacle please.

Kingscorpion19813519d ago

I think its only coming out in Japan though

"Dead or Alive 5" Last Round.

Those ugly shadows and environments in 1080p? I wish they'd do something about that. otherwise not worth the money.

So a port of the last gen game huh? Would have loved a new game or another DOA Volleyball game but it seems ports of last gen games are the norm these days.

iSuperSaiyanGod3519d ago

Why does everybody have to complain about ports . If you don't like it just don't buy it and move on . No reason to get the complaining going . It's actually a great thing for people like me who've sold or traded in there last gen console . Plenty of games if like to see brought over from the ps3 to the ps4 . No reason not to like it or want it as long as there good .

izumo_lee3519d ago (Edited 3519d ago )

So you rather have a game that was on both consoles last gen rather than a brand new DOA game? Heck a new Ninja Gaiden to compensate for the terrible one they last released would be nice.

Team Ninja like released 4 different versions of this game already on PS3, 360 & the Vita as well. The PS3 version has 2 versions the retail & the F2P one.

All i'm saying it is time for Team Ninja to move away from DOA 5.

Yi-Long3519d ago

What would you expect from a 'new' DOA? New characters? New backgrounds? Slightly improved gameplay!?

This new release has all that (not sure about new levels though), and hopefully all the DLC, so all the different costumes.

I much rather have a 'complete' release of a great last-gen fighter, which already comes with new fighters, instead of a bare-bones 'new' game, which will have new levels, but probably only a few new fighters, and just a few costumes each.

Baka-akaB3519d ago (Edited 3519d ago )

Like it or not , when any fighting game dev rushes out to release a new gen version of a fighter ... you'd usually ends up with a gimped version with less content and characters , because "they are working out the kink of a new console and a new engine" .

So yeah i'd welcome the port . You sound as if there was a choice between the port and a new game for 2014-early 2015 .... when the actual choice is the port , or NOTHING from them in that timetable .

sobotz3519d ago

@Yi-Long

DoA with a new engine would be nice, like Tekken 7.. or would you be rather playing Tag Tournament 2 HD than 7? lol, don't be so naive. And I wonder if people who already bought the DLC can transfer it to new gen.

vickers5003519d ago

"rather have a game that was on both consoles last gen rather than a brand new DOA game?"

Do you really believe they could craft a brand new game in the time it will take them to complete this port? These ports take what, 6 months, a year MAX? I always see people complaining about these remasters, them thinking that if devs Naughty Dog or Rockstar hadn't spent their time on TLoU:R and GTA:V remastered, we'd have brand new games in their stead.

Maybe you're new to gaming in general or maybe you simply haven't figured this out yet, but games take longer than 6 months to a year to make, and if we didn't have these remasters, we'd still be waiting for 2+ years for the new release, except we wouldn't have anything to play from them AT ALL in between that time. Not to mention a lot of these remasters usually aren't handled by the main team, they're outsourced to the smaller teams within the company because they're quick and easy and require very little effort, assuming they're not reMAKES or don't add a ton of brand new content.

These quick cash grabs also serve to fund development for the newer titles, meaning you'll end up with a higher quality game when they do release the new one. Development costs have risen this gen, they have to compensate for it somehow. I don't think this strategy is all that bad when you consider the alternatives. Also gives newer gamers or those who simply didn't have the time or money to try out a certain game a chance to play it in a much improved state.

These days? LMFAO!

Welcome to gaming young one. You must have missed last gen's 360 launch because more then half the titles where ports.

The year that followed you got, Burnout revenge, BF2, Bully, Far Cry 1 port etc. Mind you...the list just goes on. I think your merely fairly new to gaming as this practice isn't anything new.

Another thing.....they can do both.

Its very likely the team porting this ISN'T the main DOA team most ports are not.

Its like saying the RE port coming is coming out instead of RE7.

Lets just ignore that they have more then one team, that porting isn't creating, that Revelations 2 was leaked, RE7 has been confirmed LONG AGO to be in development etc.

Most who say this I assure you are either young, unaware, or have very short memories in regards gaming ports.

This is after all a business, or did you think those amazing games that released prior where made from magic?

To get mad at them making this port and asking for a new DOA or a DOA Volleyball, is like getting your son fired from his job so he can spend more time looking for a car.........that he was looking to buy FROM THE MONEY FROM HIS FORMER JOB! LMFAO!

How do you think they are founding most of these games?

Look at EA, look at Ubisoft...notice something?

Not too many ports right? Well..they don't really need to often due to they sorta already port on average.

Consider a game they make that ends up on 5 or 6 platforms is the money they make that would likely come from a past gen port (mind you they would still do a port too just to make some extra money)

So games like DOA only came out on 2 systems, they can't afford to bring it EVERYWHERE like EA or Ubisoft, thus they need to make a return, if not they need to make MORE money.

Know that the KH Collection isn't being done by the main KH III team....know that the money that those ports bring in.....get us a KH III faster then if they never existed.

mcarsehat3519d ago

So the new Tekken is the last one for now and all of a sudden the new Dead Or Alive is entitled, "Last Round" Can't devs be original anymore?

Baka-akaB3519d ago

I dont think they cared to copy tekken but Virtua fighter 5"s final version instead

TheCagyDies3519d ago (Edited 3519d ago )

Saw it coming miles away, that is why I didn't pick up DOA5U.
But I will be getting this.

Now waiting for Dark Souls 2, Castlevania LOS2, Ultra Street Fighter IV, DmC Xbox One/PS4 announcements.

Yi-Long3519d ago

DMC was already announced I believe, but not sure.

Personally I'm still hoping for a next-gen GOTY for Arkham Origins, which I haven't played yet.

Next-Gen port of Skyrim would be awesome as well, but sadly highly doubtful.

Super Meat Boy and some other XBLA classics for PS4/XBO would be great as well.

MeliMel3519d ago

I rather spend 300hrs on a new Elderscrolls.

blackblades3519d ago

Lol I know right, I seen it coming to as well and never bought ultimate. BBCP most likely going to get a port or extend as well. You can say that to any fighting games these days.

Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate - A Showcase for a Series Desperate for Revival

Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate launched 10 years ago today, and demonstrates why we need a new edition of the series.

CrimsonWing69224d ago

Um, did you know there’s a Dead or Alive 6?

Vanfernal224d ago (Edited 224d ago )

Lmao. Ikr? 😆

This had me questioning my sanity and thinking I was under some sort of Mandela effect

isarai224d ago

But DOA6 was not a showcase of the series. DOA5 Ultimate is better in nearly every conceivable way.

zacly224d ago

This! DOA6 was a step back for the series.

Dead or Alive 5 - 10 Years of Free-to-Play

Dead or Alive 5 debuted 10 years ago today, ushering in a new era of AAA free-to-play gaming which has since become commonplace.

Glemt570d ago

I really wish "free-to-play" got a different name. Because, yeah, you can play (part of) the game for free, but then they hypercharge you for DLC. Nearly 1000 credits to get all the DLC? Damn.

neutralgamer1992570d ago

Exactly give me a complete bundle

MadLad570d ago

You get the fighting game.
They make you pay for the bikinis and booty shorts.

ApocalypseShadow570d ago

Worse decision ever for the gamer. Over emphasis on fan service nonsense and micro transactions than making a great fighting game.

Use to love the game as a Virtual Fighter offshoot and competitor to VF and Tekken. Won't touch this current incarnation with a 10 foot pole. You know there was something wrong when they tried to charge for hair color.

spicelicka570d ago

I wish it wouldn't be called "fan service" anymore. It's of service to no one, it's just exploiting our perverted nature blatantly, but then again people who fall for it can't really complain.

MadLad570d ago

Exactly.
People complain about the dlc, but you get the actual game.
You're paying to look at their bodies.

Silly gameAr569d ago

I have no problem whatsoever with the fanservice. My problem was the endless, expensive packs of pointless costumes that people loved to buy apparently.

lucian229570d ago

Don't be a cry baby. Go play another game if you don't like fan service. Not every game needs to be woke trash.

DOA only fell because of overpriced dlc

Silly gameAr569d ago

Not every comment needs to bring up woke when there is no wokeness going on. I wish they would ban the word woke from the face of the planet.

lucian229568d ago (Edited 568d ago )

You sound "woke" yourself, crying and wanting more cancel culture. That's the problem with you people, you don't like something and just want to cancel it.

Woke is now a day a synonym for social justice Warrior. It's people who cry that something is offensive and use cancel culture to destroy something they don't like...... Sorry but it applies when people complain about boobs

isarai570d ago (Edited 570d ago )

Do people really not realize there was a full release of this game? I've seen this pop up a few times and it always baffles me that people talk as if DOA5 was only F2P. I still have the Last Round disc that includes all characters, maps and most outfits

HeliosHex570d ago

Truly the best in the series. If you only want one DOA this is the one to get right here.
