Johnny Gat, the blood thirsty Lieutenant of the 3rd Street Saints will go against the lord of Darkness Satan, in this standalone version of the popular series.
(Sigh) will these guys ever make a proper Saints game...
Its long over due. Especially for Next gen only.
Right. Well what they need to do is focus on the gangs. That's what made the first 3 special and different from GTA. Maybe they could have a online space where you can create your own gang with other people. Colors, signs, clothes, vehicles safe houses. I can see it now you have this big online city where each gang is made by players. You can either, play the story and take on a big corporation that allows different gangs to come together and take out the corporation. Or MP where you and your gang have territory and another gang at any given point can come and try to raid and take over all in real time. Man, I would THROW money at that.
total agree @angeliicediamond a socially connected saint row is where i can see future versions heading,if and when they decide to do it.
I'll be honest, I enjoyed the 1st and 2nd. Once they went into outer space and aliens, then the series lost me. Super powers? I preferred playing this game over GTA because GTA to me over the years has gotten to serious. But now Saints Row has just become absolutely ridiculous. I wish they would just go back to their old formula which I loved.
long over due? SR4 came out about 12 months ago! Anybody know if xbo/ps4 version is vanilla 4 or national treasure edition? I was really looking at sr4:nte recently
This looks awesome. I mean who else could Johnny face but Satan himself. There's no left on the streets of Saint to take him on lol. Wish they would make a next gen only saints though.
They already jumped the shark that's jumping a shark with SR4. There's nothing left for them to do that's even remotely grounded.
I just want a serious gang story with crazy/fun gameplay, like Saints Row 2. Not the aliens, zombies, and now the friggen devil. The series has gone completely downhill. Until they reboot Saints Row or take it back to its roots I have no intention of supporting the franchise again.
It's a standalone expansion of SRIV... Don't expect anything less unrealistic. Now... When SRV comes out and they're still doing superpower stuff, that's when I'm going to complain.
I guess I'm the only person that likes the over the top stupidity from part 3 and 4.
3 is one thing, but 4 took it too far. They ran the story into a corner and changed the gameplay too much. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed 1-4, but 4 just wasn't Saint's Row to me. I didn't disagree, btw.
3 and 4 > 1 and 2!
The problem I had with 4 was the fact that vehicles basically meant nothing due to the super powers. And yeah, it was way over the top. But there are so many other serious GTA clones out there I'm happy to have one not so serious regardless of how far over the top they've went.
Nope. I feel the series just gets better and better, personally. Though I had the same thoughts regarding the vehicles in 4.
I wish they would, I don't see why people like this new direction. If you take Saints Row and look at this new expansion would you even think they are in the same franchise. Saints Row 2 was great, it took what was missing in GTA 4 and included it in their game, but it still kept it grounded at times. I mean Aliens, jumping through a car window to enter a vehicle, virtual worlds, weird over the top weapons, space, superpowers, demons, hell it's self....that is NOT Saints Row Best thing to do is reboot it for this gen because they'll have a clean slate. Just Cause 2 is the same, it doesn't take it's self serious but it's not over the top. Yet I found it better then GTA4 Look at the difference between Saints Row and Saints Row 2, big difference right? Now look at the difference between Saints Row 3 and Saints Row 4....they are basically the same game.
Theres nothing next gen looking about this game.
Yeah I think they took it too far and kinda lost their focus with the gangs. I liked just cause 2 only thing I find wrong with it is the world was too big it took forever to get to your missions even when you take over strongholds it seem too big. It's fun for messing around but sometimes you get lost. It make you feel like it was meant to be a coop game and your friends should be working to take over the map
Yeah SR2 city was actually a city
How much is this standalone version going for?
Really Johnny takes on the devil now. lol Who next God?
. . . Coming in 2017
Better watch yourself, Jesus.
Sssshh Do not give them any ideas!
So wait... it's a virtual reality of hell? It still looks like your in the simulation.
This looks great though. I know people are divided on the direction of the series, but I think they just get more fun and more fun with each release. While I was hoping they would touch on the time travel seen at the end of 4 this time around (perhaps they are with the next true release), but this is a fun looking alternative.
Got ten on Gat kicking his rear.
Saints Row 2 was the last real Saints Row. Will we ever get a True Saints Row 3? disgusting whats happen
The problem is that they are pumping out sequels too fast, 4 games in 8 years since they started. They need to spend a bit more time on each title rather than a new one every 2 years.. every 3-4 years is plenty of time for a sequel if it has a lot of good content imo. Btw was anyone else expecting Push it to the limit to be playing on that trailer? I am disappointed.
Looks like they won't be getting my money anymore. They really had a chance to do something if they had stayed the course of sr2 instead of the crap it has become.
It's been two games at this point, with the direct sequel in development and this just announced standalone. People keep calling for a reboot, but that's exactly what Saints Row 3 was. They wanted a new direction for the site, and they've spent years making it happen. Being that they keep making them, I think they are happy with the decision. This IS what Saints Row is now.
Totally fine with that decision, there are better games out than the dildo franchise. Once the tweens outgrow this bulls*** and dont find purple dildos funny anymore this franchise is dead. Lets see how happy they are then. And honestly I won't know as I won't be paying any attention to this franchise anymore, they don't need my money.
That may have been true with Saints Row 3, but most people agreed that, as far as the writing goes, Saints Row 4, while silly, was actually smartly written. I certainly felt so. I get that you don't like it. Please refrain from feeling you have the right to put those who do on some sort of level below you.
I have every right to call a spade a spade and will continue to do so thank you very much. I'm wrong for pointing out juvenile entertainment is crappy to me? It's now a lollipop franchise made for the easily entertained and that most certainly IS beneath MY level. I get that you are a fan of such nonsense and it certainly is within your right to ignore my post and have a good day. My initial post was focused squarely on the terrible direction the game is stuck in, in my opinion. Could have just hit the disagree like the others and moved on. And no, you don't speak for most people you are speaking for yourself. At best I'd say the fanbase is split 50/50, at best while it's more likely 70/30 in favor of the original direction. A poor mans gta is better than this.
Well I guess it's all up hill from here, can't get any worse than this.
