All-Stars released on November 20th, 2012 in North America for PS3 and PS Vita. All-Stars sold a paltry 11,758 in its first week on PS3.
I hope so. The first game...well, it wasn't great, but there's plenty of potential there. I think they need to really look at the roster when planning a second game. I've heard that the most recent update fixes tons of balancing issues, which is a good sign that they realize some of what was massively wrong with that game.
I don't think we will se another one and I think its the same with MNR and LBP carting. Out of the 3 games I thought MNR was the most fun and closest to Mario Kart game I've played but had its own twists too it. As for PSASBR I though it played better on the psv than the ps3 for some reason but it just felt like a half assed game a there was not really many game modes to it and with the sales being low for it the online side dropped quickly too. I thin it was good o Sony to try and male games like this but I don't think we will see a number 2 of them. For m id like to see them keep giving us new and fresh ideas like they did with LBP rather than try an copy Super smash bros or Mario Kart.
Yeah, Sony needs a karting game.. I really enjoyed MNR (the ps3 version, the vita version was meh). I hope we see a decent karting game on ps4, I know we'll probably get a sonic kart game, but I'd like to see sony put one out as well.
I hope there will be. Just needs a slightly bigger budget and a developer with pedigree (I think SB being brand new made it difficult for 3rd party devs to commit to giving a character). I enjoyed the first game.
I hope so as well and will be enjoying the first one in September :D
PS Plus eh? The game was fun but it kinda came and went.
as is the case with most games~
Not hard to platinum either! As usual the online trophies can be tricky depending on the competition.
Probably not. Sony doesn't see the value in it.
They told you this?
11 thousand copies in 1 week the consumers tod Sony lmfao.
@koolaid You mean 127,000? And Who's tod? http://www.vgchartz.com/gam...
@Koolaid: It sold over a million copies in retail and several hundred thousand digital. I received the full game for free after an unplayable Vita version but playable PS3 version during a sale. I think it was fixed within 10 days and they gave everyone the game again for both systems and a refund!! The game was very good and I enjoyed playing it. And currently with with PSplus I see it going to do really good and will perhaps make sure a part 2 will happen. Just a bit more depth in gameplay, more characters and you have a super game.
@elazz same thing happenned wih me aswell. its good that sony gives full credit refund plus free game when something fails. so far got two games for free like that.
No, All Stars tried to capitalize on the Smash Bros formula. It was decent but didn't capture the charm, the design or the tight controls Smash Bros has long since mastered. Smash Bros. characters meld so nicely because they have charm and personality and to see these iconic mascots fight is such an out of character experience that you just have to love it. Sony All Stars not so much, as most of their characters are all violent and blood thirsty anyways. Not to mention most of their All Stars are third party characters. Kind of defeats the purpose of Sony All Stars.
you right ssb is gangsta
I kinda agree with you on the 3rd party stuff, it was kinda obvious they were just marketing the game (dmc and mg rising)
I'm sorry, but saying these characters lack charm is a bit ridiculous. Ratchet & Clank? Sly Cooper? Nathan Drake? Sir Daniel Fortesque? Parappa? Meanwhile, many of Nintendo's characters barely have stories. So, why would I care about them? I just enjoy the games they're in. I don't like Yoshi. I just like playing AS Yoshi. The mechanics of Yoshi's Island are brilliant, but I couldn't care less about the characters. The controls on PlayStation All-Stars are tight. Very tight. I don't know why you would state otherwise. I think it totally owns any Super Smash Bros. title, as far as mechanics and combo systems are concerned. It was created by a team of fighting game vets.
Those are the only decent characters. Nobody said anything about "stories" not sure why you brought that up because it doesnt matter at all. PSASBR needed polish. A lot of it. The idea was there and it could have worked, but it was a sloppy, low budget mess. They should have put 100% into the project or none at all.
@legion You're right about the fighting mechanics and combos, PSA was all over that. Unfortunately there wasn't enough meat on the bone. Smash has so many diverse game modes its almost a party game. @krontaar true as well, it was just a smidge over indie, at least thats how it was presented. Should have been backed like a big game.
"Meanwhile, many of Nintendo's characters barely have stories." Compared to what? This guy: http://www.fightersgenerati... The only character in smash that really supports your argument is Wii Fit Trainer. But even then I'd say the fan support for the character goes against you because these are just too funny: http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photo... http://i2.kym-cdn.com/photo... http://t.qkme.me/3uu6o8.jpg
i think the fight mechanics were too complicated for a casual game but not enough for a fighting game. characters were also not as well known as mario, zelda pokemon.
I can agree on some of that, they should of made their game more mature, since PlayStation has always been the more mature consoles. They need not release a sequel unless they can get Crash/Cloud/Sephiroth and maybe some Spiro, and Snake. But I would definitely want to see their newer characters, like the leads from Tearaway, and Puppeteer. They should also make scoring scheme more diverse, and make the collectable energy meta game more of a dimension to the gameplay.
i guess that maybe true. not really sure what the big deal about smash is though. problem for psallstars was that it tried to do too much. kind of like a fighter to compete with games like sf but not complexed enough. and not crazy enough as smash. i
Man, look the disagree for this guy. N4G is full of Vita fanboys. It's not even funny.
I sincerely hope not.
When Crash Bandicoot returns then everyone will see PS All Stars.
I hope the next one is a 3D brawler. C'mon Playstation I.P are all 3D.
I totally agree. I'd love to see more of a Power Stone type of brawler.
I really would like to see a FF Dissiddia style fighter. I'd like SE to make one for console. But of course Square doesn't do what fans or gamers want
Half the reviewers said it wasn't enough like Super Smash Bros. Half the reviewers said it was too much like Super Smash Bros. How are they supposed to make a brawler if all people do is compare it to Super Smash Bros.?
The differences between Super Smash Bros and Playstation All-Stars, of which there are none, make the sameness more exceptional! JUST TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT!!! (cookie for the ref)
How could you not compare it to Smash Bros... it was a shameless copy and paste affair - minus the heritage, polish or magic. What's next? Sony copying motion controls akin to the Wii but in the hurry forgetting to make any games worthy of the hardware...
you clearly didn't play it, the gameplay is a lot different and less casual with focus on combos..
Well it was a clone trying to pretend it's not because built around the super mechanics . Said mechanics which handicapped the gameplay and limited any potential . So in a sense both side are right . it was too much like smash , and a smash with less fighting possibilities and winning options
Sony should have taken the time to build an entirely new fighting game play mechanic. Not just steal the look and feel of Smash Bros. Look at Final Fantasy Dissidia. Totally new and unique formula with fun epic game play and flashy visuals. That's what should have happened. But clearly Sony was trying too hard to capitalize on an already established franchise on a competing system. Besides Smash games only come once a generation but its made so well that it remains the pinnacle of it type till the next iteration. Sony has to put more time and effort into the next one if its going to stand the test of time.
Because the similarities are plainly obvious to anyone. The game will always be compared it. Same deal with GTA clones and Kart games. When someone makes a game that is completely different then anything before it any obvious imitators will be called out. That's the way it works
They can't not have one. Sony has the roster for it. There were some questionable absences that were hindered by licensing issues. If you have the lemons, make the lemonade. Try again!
Like a better, more mature smash bros!
What's more mature about it? Please tell me
*Like a less balanced, clone of smash bros! Fixed it for ya
PlayStation All-Stars 2 featuring: Drake Joel Ellie Crash Bandicoot Cloud Strife Delsin LARA CROFT (she'll always be a playstation all star) And many more! PS All Stars 2 on PS4, if done PROPERLY, would be amazing. The first game was underwhelming but if 2 was done PROPERLY and not a half hearted attempt it could make a solid PS4 fighting game. And with the interactivity of the PS4 it makes perfect sense.
Classic Lara Croft*
Like with all dem polygons and pointy breasteses? Sign me up!
So glad you said Lara Croft instead of Laura Croft. Pet peeve of mine.
It is really ? i've never witnessed occurrences of "Laura croft" .... with my ears and eyes keep bleeding with "rogue/rouge" on all platforms , and let's not forget Marvel's Rogue
Yeah heard people calling the character Laura all the time (mostly American media) for some reason. How can people get Rogue and Rouge mixed up haha?
When I was younger my step mum thought she used to be called "Laura Toft", so I've got used to the mispelling of her name quite early on xD. But that was in the 90's, how people these days STILL get it wrong I don't know!
I would like to see them try and make a simplistic moba game and try to blend it with fat princess mechanics.
I don't know if the problem is the fact that it copied Smash Bros too much, or the fact that it didn't copy it enough :/
I like this ^
Thank you :D
They should make another one. They will have to sit down and look at all the problems people had with the game. A better roster for one. 2 Coles was a joke. Be unafraid to copy Smash brothers. There is nothing they can really do in improve upon it.
LOL! unafraid to copy Smash Bros? That is exactly what they tried to do initially, only 1 problem, Nintendo make polished, brilliant games, Sony as it turns out don't - in comparison.
Come on Sony clearly does. This game however steemed from an ill thought initiative ... giving to a makeshift rookie studio . Especially for a type of game that might have been hadled better by a japanese studio ... like cyber Connect 2, DImps etc
Yeah the last of us nd every other hit are nintendo games.. get you loud and clear
The Last of Us and "every other hit" are your examples...ok. I have owned every PlayStation since the original and the majority of its best games. I also however have done the same with Nintendo since the SNES and let me tell you, Sony (thus far) have nothing on Nintendo.
I played the first for a few minutes at a Walmart kiosk and it was terrible.
you played it for a few minutes and you're ready to call it terrible? what an idiot.
If they do make a psabr2 1.) Fix the balancing - i know it's better now after many patches but holy crap psabr had some of the worst balancing i've ever seen in a fighting game. Parrappa literally stands no chance against Kratos or Raiden in both attacks and special moves 2.) Better Presentation - I seen flash games that have better looking menus than that. from the character select screen to the story mode everything just looks extremely uninspired in terms of presentation.
actually some of the best players were Parappas, you just need to know how to play with him. Kratos and raiden were nothing special to fight against for experienced players.
The first game bombed didn't it? I think a sequel would not be the answer seeing Sony has a poor heritage whereas Nintendo's is rich - the reason Smash Bros is a sucssess and Sony's attempt to do a copy and paste failed. Most if not all of Sony's once great exclusives were sold/lost. The majority of their characters are flash in the pan...Sackboy anybody?
Dude give your fanboy ranting a rest.
Sorry. I should jump on the anti-Nintendo bandwagon/self-proclaimed 'hardcore' thing...far more widely accepted.
Nothing wrong with liking Nintendo, your comments are anti everything that isn't Nintendo bandwagon/self-proclaimed "hardcore" though.
The kill system just didn't work...sorry. I'd much rather a direct Smash Bros rip-off than what they had....some characters had such easy kills(RAIDEN!!!) while others were nigh impossible(Sir Dan) It wasn't even at all but the combat was still fun as hell and each one of those characters equals about 10 Nintendo characters to me
IHOPE NOT!! the first was a failure and Sony couldnt care less about this game who left it completely unsupported with all thecrap caracters inside it..NEw DANTE from DMC (NOT the old real DANTE)!!, no CRASH ,NO CLOUD ,NO SEPHIROTH, NO SOLID SNAKE!... WTF Sony
I wudve prefered a game more like street fighter... but oh well
It got ripped for being too much like SSB, even though it wasn't. People complained because they had to learn combos and use skill to win with good characters. Then people complain because they wanted it to be like SSB. Make up your damn minds. I poured many hours into this game and maxed out a few characters. It was great game and I would like a sequel with even more characters.
