Microsoft shares get lift from upgrade

Credit Suisse bumps up its rating of software giant to 'outperform,' citing a combination of developments beyond Vista and the new Zune player.

Credit Suisse raised its rating on Microsoft Corp. to "outperform" from "neutral," saying the stock could appreciate nearly 20 percent from current levels due to the company's strengthening market position in digital entertainment, among other reasons.

Microsoft (up $0.49 to $29.89, Charts) shares were up 1.5 percent in late morning Nasdaq trade on the news yesterday.
