Sex, Lies, And Video Games

Forbes: Recently scandal swept the video game corner of the internet. Jilted lovers. Accusations of sexual misdeeds. Ethical breaches of trust.

All the makings of a grand soap opera—something that the internet, and especially the video game corner of the internet, falls for every time.

Let’s gloss over the details. If you don’t know what I’m talking about yet, you haven’t been paying attention.

Suffice to say the story involves an indie game developer, her ex-boyfriend, and accusations of infidelity. A member of the video game press was involved which made some people question whether any ethical lines were crossed. It appears they were not. The time-line doesn’t point to scandal.

The rest of the matter remains deeply personal and tabloidy, unfit to cover in any detail at a respectable publication. All we have is smoke and no fire. There are problems in the video game industry and press but this particular case has yet to bear any real fruit.

The story is too old to be commented.

The fact of the matter is, these accusations have substance.

Everything that was posted, came accompanied with screen dumps and a timeline cataloging events.

It was serious enough for Kotako and Polygon to revise their policy and issue statements:

Those explicit pictures of Zoe.., made me lose a lot of respect. I can't shake Burgers and Fries out of my head :(
