Bloodborne could be one of the PS4's greatest hits

Paul Verhoeven of MMGN: Gamescom 2014 brought with it buttloads of trailers, reveals and so forth. But for me, the real winner was Bloodborne, the upcoming game from the creator of Dark Souls and Demon Souls. Horrific adversaries? Check. Twitch-based combat? Check. Hand-breaking difficulty? Check check check.

Based Miyazaki will not disappoint. This will easily become Sony's next great franchise. I think about it sometimes (all the time) and I just can't believe Sony landed such a massive RPG on PS4.

Everything about it from the combat, to the atmosphere, to the setting, to the music, to the character design, to the enemy design, to the bosses, to that Tower of Latria quote from Miyazaki...

I get Demon's Souls vibes, RE4 vibes, Castlevania vibes, Dark Tower vibes...

How could a game answer so many of my prayers?

I haven't been this excited for a game since MGS4. They've put such an everything spin on the Souls series and they're hitting the mark with every idea.

This is my dream game.

Me either. It can't come fast enough. Dragon Age and The Witcher 3 will hold me over, but this game will be epic. This new hardware really allows them to do more of what they want.

september starts a ride of epic that isnt gonna end for far as it can be seen.

This game is what Castlevania should have been. End of story! Can't wait for it!

Well said :)
This game seems to do everything right, I can't find anything I dislike yet. And I'm one of those who disliked Dark Souls 2 already during it's BETA. It's a blessing that Bloodborne is handled (again) by Sony Japan and From's A-Team, just like Demon's Souls (still my favourite Souls game) at it's time.

I'm especially looking forward to the deeper mechanics like for example the return of black/white character/world tendencies and I also can't wait to see their new take on the online mode (hopefully something like Beasts&Hunters as rumored previously). Maybe in a few days at TGS :)

Well said! Those are pretty same to my thoughts/feelings :D. MGSV, Bloodborne, Witcher 3 & Silent Hills really excited to play.

It will be a cult classic just like Demon's Souls was to PS3.

Except it's going to have a LOT more presence and publicity with PS4 being just really popular and this being one of its big exclusives to start off the year alongside The Order: 1886.

We were lucky Atlus published Demon's Souls for the west, otherwise it might not have been as successful and Bloodborne might not even have existed.

Enemy1091d ago (Edited 1091d ago )

Yeah, we really do need to thank Atlus for taking the chance. Sony are still kicking themselves I bet. They pretty much laughed at the possibility that Demon's Souls might be successful, though granted, most people agreed when they saw Demon's Souls in pre-alpha stages. Ended up being my favorite game of the last generation and nothing even remotely comes close to it.

I still remember my first experience with the game. It's just that good.

In the end, what Sony lost was also a gain. They went about and created their very own Souls, which will now become a PlayStation IP as Bloodborne.

Yes Altus deserves respect. Good on Sony for publishing the game in the east. But then they completely dropped the ball and weren't going to bring demons to the west.

tanookisuit1091d ago (Edited 1091d ago )

I wonder what they will use to replace bonfires?
Also, the game needs a douchebag Blacksmith (ala Baldwin in Demon's Souls), lol.

Enemy1091d ago

We do need more memorable NPCs, yeah. Demon's Souls had those in spades. I got chills when I heard the Maiden in Black's voice in that Bloodborne trailer.

This game seems like a combination of Demon's Souls and Nightmare Creatures, and oh boy is that a good thing! Can't wait to see what Miyazaki has in store for us all in early 2015.
