It is simple, Full Motion Video (FMV) games go way back in gaming, to the 80′s actually. Titles like Night Trap (reboot currently looking for funding on Kickstarter) and Sewer Shark were the norm back in the day. Then there were more advanced titles like Prize Fighter and Ground Zero Texas that pushed the genre forward but not enough to save it. Five Nights at Freddy’s is similar to another FMV game that retro gamers may be familiar with- Double Switch. Five Nights at Freddy’s does something that earlier FMV games couldn’t do, though many tried, and that is bring the fright."
