how many did it for the beta though.
i enjoyed the beta but cancelled my preorder when all the stuff came out about how u join raids etc and the fact nobody was accepting group requests .
but after watching another video it made me want it again so i think im gonn re-preorder

trunkswd3524d ago

The Beta was a success for the most part. It is bound to happen that it didn't meet some people's expectations.

MSBAUSTX3523d ago

I canceled my preorder. It is not what I was wanting at all. it was beautiful though. I am just looking for more campaign and story in a game right now.

TongkatAli3523d ago

Another million will pick off on your canceled preorder, it's all good.

C-H-E-F3523d ago (Edited 3523d ago )

Agreed and seeing that its on 5 platforms 1.5million is piss poor. TLOU did that on 1 platform.. N it's a remaster smh... But I never preordered always knew it'll play out to be suds in the ocean. Alpha n beta confirmed its just beautiful nothing more.

700p3523d ago

@msbausttx thats exactly how i feel.My hype died completely. Its not a bad game but its definitely not meant for me.

BX813523d ago

@chef
Really doing that with an install base of 7 mil is better?

When you see how hard those raids are going to be and how long it's going to take to complete them, you will understand why they went this route.

Reddzfoxx3523d ago

Pre-orders usually boom a week or 2 before launch. But with digital downloads making it available launch day we might see more people taking advantage of it. Then you will have Christmas noobs to crappy up the game.

buttclown3523d ago

Yeah I pre-ordered it for the beta but cancelled it simply because I like digital downloads better. They could still count mine as a pre-order if they wanted since I will still be getting it though lol.

Magicite3523d ago

game looks awesome, but first person view is not for me, unfortunately.

3-4-53523d ago

I didn't play the beta, but I have it pre-ordered.

It's a little off topic but i don't see how VGChartz still has PS4 sitting at 9.4 million when Sony officially announced 10 million at Gamescom. Perhaps they're getting lazy?

WeAreLegion3523d ago

They keep saying they can't find the missing 600,000 units anywhere. They don't know how Sony got to the 10 Million figure.

I'm so tired of VGChartz. Look how off their PS3 numbers are. It surpassed the 360 two years ago and has been outselling it by a significant amount since then. They had the PS3 1.5 million ahead at one point, but then out of nowhere they equated the sales.

Sevir3523d ago

All the more why VGChartz is just ball park figures. The game will be a huge success

youndamie3523d ago

I thought once you hit a million it's platinum not gold.

WeAreLegion3523d ago (Edited 3523d ago )

In the gaming industry, going "Gold" means the game is completely finished and ready for printing.

You are correct about the US music industry, however!

youndamie3523d ago

Thanks for the clarification :) have a bubble.

JeffGUNZ3523d ago

Now, will they please tell me the download/install size of this game?!!?

Dynasty20213523d ago

"Set to smash industry records"...with 1.5 million pre-orders?

So....GTA 5 still wins it seems.

Gh05t3523d ago

"Set to smash industry records"

Weird I searched the whole article and couldn't find your quote ANYWHERE.

CloudRap3523d ago

it will certainly pass GTA5 for the simple fact that its on 4 platforms.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter325d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood325d ago (Edited 325d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro325d ago (Edited 325d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881325d ago (Edited 325d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell324d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig325d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast325d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername325d ago (Edited 325d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g325d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka325d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai476d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface475d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard473d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
