Star Citizen Teases FPS action video

Every time I think Chris Roberts' gorgeous crowdfunded space sim couldn't possibly get any better, the folks at Roberts Space Industries release teaser videos for things like spaceship racing and first-person shooter modules.
If possible, do this masterpiece justice and watch in 4k. (Dev, Next-Gen, PC, Star Citizen)

Tell me about it. This FPS trailer stirred a feeling inside me I haven't felt in a very long time.
I can't wait.

The racing module was a surprise, but anyone who has been paying attention knew long ago that there would be FPS elements featured in the game.

This game has the best graphics I've ever seen. More devs need to build games from the ground up for high-end PC's pronto.

These guys can do it b/c they have already received $50 million dollars. Thats insane to me.

My only worry is that they never figure out when to stop, never r satisfied w/ it....and want to keep adding more and more. It's exactly the problem I would have if I raised that much money and was told to build my dream game. I wouldn't ever b able to say, OK it's perfect now...I am done.

It's graphics vary, but I do agree they are among the best I've seen. There's some spots, like the trailer showing off the ship hangars, where the aliasing and lighting/texture flicker can make the scene look rough, but all in all it is a fantastic looking game and definitely one of the best games to make use of high end PCs.

Oh Sh*t! I was just asking my friend yesterday if he knew what type of combat the game had on ground, if any. This is looking amazing!

Bloody Kotaku, came for the 'FPS' action and there was no FPS video. Shame on me for clicking.

Clearly this is Skyrim in space. Too bad its not coming to consoles.

To me SC looks nothing like "Skyrim in space" and that's good. I really disliked how shallow and repetitive Skyrim is.

lol, these guys at kotaku... this vid has been out for more than a week.

It still baffles me how many people don't or didn't know yet this game will feature

- full fledged skill based space ship combat,
- detailed and entirely worked-out and walkable ship interiors,
- multi crew ships and strongly variable ship-sizes (from single seat fighter to 1km long capital ships)
- complex and accurately calculated space flight physics,
- ship borading with full fledged skill based tactiacl FPS,
- complex and dynamic economy system
- full fledged single player campaign ala Wing Commander.
- NO subscription necessary to have access to the full game
- All and everything, from ships to cosmetics will be unlock-able through gameplay.
- PVE, PVP, Campaign and MP co-op
- deep organisations (guilds) system
- ...

and that's not even all. Best part is that much of this is already available and relatively far progressed. See Arena Commander.

I hope the final build is optimized better than my current hanger build. Yes I know that the hanger is just a teaser for early backers, but mine currently runs like a slideshow.

dont understand the hype for this game, whats the big deal?

There's a few aspects to it that excite people.
First as far as tech, it's the most technically advanced and ambitious game in the works. The ship and character models have polycounts far beyond what the next gen consoles and mid range pc's can push. It will sport a huge universe like Spore, but with a Hollywood level of detail. The ship's are a single model, so there's no separate inside/outside of ships. If there's a huge mothership that can have ships dock in the hangar it really will be that huge, and take a long time to walk across the huge hangar, and if there are people standing in the hangar you will see them if you fly by, so the scale is like Star Wars but everything is still 'real' on the inside and out.

Second, it's broken all game crowdfunding records, and recently celebrated passing 42million. The perks they're adding are huge things like infinite explorable procedural planets.

Third, the man at the helm was behind the Wing Commander series, and says he wanted to create the first game to take advantage of all the untapped power of modern PC's.

If you go look up anything about the game and start getting into the details, it's just this endlessly expanding really super high production value project.
