Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare PS4 Review

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is one of the most surprising shooters to launch this year. While it may have been easy to laugh off PopCap’s venture into the third person shooter genre, the results are not so laughable. By most accounts, including ours, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare is a great game — at least it was deemed so on the Xbox. Very soon, PS4 and PS3 owners will get a chance to jump into the action as well, and it’s safe to say that these new players will be getting a similar experience to what’s already arrived on those other platforms. Better yet, they’ll be getting a game that has been refined, updated, and enhanced in a number of ways since February’s initial launch.

You have to understand something. No SP means no sale. Thank you very much.

pretty sure it's priced under $60 and DLC is free. it has a "horde" mode which is fun and good variety in the MP. Gamefly FTW

Stapleface1342d ago

It is under $60, and can be played single player in the horde mode. You also touched on the free DLC which is almost non existent in gaming anymore, that's great. I give it a FUN/10. Also, agree on the Gamefly. IDK what I would do without it, play a lot less new games I think that's for sure.

I've enjoyed this game much more than Titanfall or Ghosts.

It's just a pure fun shooter, and it's balanced really well, with a lot of options to unlock.

* Great Map layouts, and visuals.
- It's easy to see where everything is and to memorize areas on maps, and the size is pretty much perfect as well.

Most pure fun I've had with a shooter in probably 3-4 years.

Not sure what your saying.

This game is good....just because the letters EA are on the box doesn't mean it's evil.

Fun is fun

I'm gonna use my last bubble here to bring up another little problem. EA. See this game lives on their servers and I don't really think I need to spend even one more second explaining the level of dedication (being sarcastic) or what that means in the long run here.
So, between no SP and the game living in EA home = disaster in the making. Might as well just sent them a check for $40 bucks. Call it a donation.

I was considering getting this til I saw the price "$54.95AU"
Just crazy, I was thinking it'd be maybe $20-30 max.

First Light is only $22AU and offers way more value.

sobotz1342d ago

I love Infamous but how a single player game offers more value than a 60 hour+ multiplayer gameplay.

It's only a DLC, and you're comparing it to a full retail game... not mention it will only last 4-5 hour.

inFamous might not last as long but having higher production values and an actual story is worth a lot more to me.

Kind of like the difference between a sitcom and reality TV show. Reality TV might go on a lot longer but I'd much rather watch something that had some effort put in and a story to boot.

"inFamous might not last as long but having higher production values and an actual story is worth a lot more to me. "

This is a pet peeve of mine. Instead of saying it has more value, why can't you just say "I would prefer playing ____." Like Disgaea offers countless hours of gameplay, but if you don't like grinding or silly anime styled games, then it is all for naught. Plus you wouldn't have people comment on your stuff with their own interpretation of things.

"but I'd much rather watch something that had some effort put in and a story to boot."

1) Most sitcoms don't have much of a story and certainly not enough of one to make them different from say Reality TV. Your average sitcom just progress forward with minor things like "at this point X and Y are dating" or someone gets a new job and from that point forward the jokes are about the new job. In the case of Reality TV, since these are living breathing creatures that I've been assured are people, they learn lessons / band together and will need to pay attention to "plot points" (like if X and Y stab Z in the back it will probably come back) to understand the events / actions going forward.
2) I take it you don't watch a lot of sitcoms, since a lot of them just recycle jokes and tropes week after week. Take TBBT, just how much of that sitcom is based around Sheldon's atypical behavior or early Two and a Half Men being about Charlie being a deadbeat that drinks and sleeps around. If you actually take a step back and look at most of them, you'll notice that at their core they do a lot of the same thing and rely heavily on running jokes / gags.

Nothing wrong with Multiplayer, but it is no where near on the same level as a story based game. Not the same ballpark, they are not even on the same planet.

As for those TV shows, I don't watch the ones you had mentioned so I wouldn't know.

Currently watching the likes of The Strain and Falling Skies if you have heard of them.

Everyone has different tastes in shows so that is not the point, point is there is a very large difference cost/production/thought in sitcoms vs reality shows bringing forth the similarity with Multiplayer vs Single Player.

How can you comment on First Lights value when it isn't out and there are no reviews?

BitbyDeath1342d ago

It has a story we know this.
That alone already puts it ahead of a simple multiplayer game in my books.

XtraTrstrL1342d ago (Edited 1342d ago )

It's pretty damn fun, and I haven't even played the competitive mp yet, just the regular Garden Ops. All the card packs are priced nicely, and you earn the coins for them pretty quickly. One of the main reasons I got it is because I knew they were giving all the main DLC for free. I always support that, and the fact I loved PvZ on PS3 and played the hell out of it.

The X1 price is already $30 on Amazon, so I assume the PS4 version will go down in atleast a few months for anyone that can wait a month or 2. Maybe even less time, Amazon is quick with price drops sometimes.

WeAreLegion1342d ago

Playing it right now. It's fantastic!

OmegaShen1342d ago

Its really fun, but just like any EA game. It has online problems and you have to be online to do most things.

Sticker Shop closed, if not online or EA sever has a problem.
