Siliconera: "A “shocking” new Pokémon project will be announced in Japan next Tuesday, August 26th, in collaboration with Famitsu magazine, The Pokémon Company said today."
Pokemon MMO on Wii U pls.
I'd say that alone would excel the Wii U to massive numbers... hell just a decent pokemon game would doesn't even need to be an MMO
It would also kill their handheld. There is a reason why Nintendo have not made a console pokémon game similar to what we get on handheld. What is the point of buying a handheld pokémon with a similar pokémon on a Nintendo home consoles
meh I dunno about that, a solitary game on the home consoles is unlikely to detract from the success that is Nintendo's handhelds.... an RPGish type game on the Wii U as a once off to bolster sales would be massive or they could do a rota with the games 1 year on handheld, one year on wii u with a gap year between them
@ Iamsuperman, you have a valid point but they could always link the two.
I can see how it would affect their handheld business. Pokemon is one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, attractions on their handhelds. And if they were to make a Pokemon RPG like the handheld games but with better graphics and maybe more features, then I definitely see myself buying the game on Wii U instead of the 3DS.
@iamsuperman It wouldn't hurt their handheld...If anything it would help it, especially if Nintendo made the title interoperable with the handheld games in some way. Do you forget that consoles can only be played at home... the thing about mobile devices is that people play them on the go!a console pokemon game doesn't fill that void.
Did handheld Mario or Zelda ever get hurt from its home console counterparts? I dont think so. As long as they make them special in their own way, I dont see any problems.
If Nintendo makes a pokemon wiiu I'ma be forced to buy a wiiu
Wishful thinking but apparently they don't want to print money so they will never do it.
Pokken Fighters? Or maybe that Pikachu game they were talking about a while back.
This is my guess as well. It says shocking pokemon project, so I'm sure it will work in tandem with Pokemon X/Y and ORAS with training and importing in and out of the game.
I hope they confirm Cranky Kong for the new pokemon game.
You sir made my day. But you now have me worried...
No it wouldn't kill their handheld, saying it would is ridiculous. Games that are ported from consoles to handhelds and vice versa. The console versions offering a more fleshed out experience while the convenience of a portable allows you to play anywhere!! Nintendo and Sony have been doing this for years and it in no way stimies sales, it could be said with the right form of connectivity between console and handheld it could bring an unparalleled experience to consumers. Just look at Zelda U, make a pokemon game open world with dynamic environs, full hd pokemon models and a few other bells and whistles a handheld couldn't provide and you have yourself a game that will literally fly off shelves!
Mario Kart 7 and 8 both sold quite a lot, so I agree that they don't cancel each other out. Same with PSP and PS3. The games did not cancel each other out and they probably won't start now.
Its the iPad trading card game? They spoke about this at a recent board meeting.
No it not.
No gamefreak is not making the tcg... This is a different announcement as the cats outta the bag already on Pokemon TCG...
Pokemon Snap U incoming?
A full console RPG similar to the DS/3DS games would probably sway me to get a Wii U, I'd still play the handheld though. Would be great to have some cross platform play of sorts too. It will be something a lot smaller though, perhaps another Colosseum game? or the trading card game like Mikefizzled mentioned.
If it ends up being a decent pokemon game on consoles, I'd consider that shocking...shocking because it seemed like a no brainer 15 years ago and they'd be just getting to it.
It's probably got something to do with that Wii U Pokemon gameplay that was shown for a few seconds at the end of a Nintendo Pokemon exhibition months ago.
Just realised the wording of the title. "Shocking pokemon announcement" = standalone Pikachu game = probable official reveal of Pikachu detective = total disappointment.
Not getting my hopes up.
More than likely nothing to get excited about... However... I can dream for a HD Wii U RPG Pokemon game.
A pokemon game that isn't boring? It's been the same story for years with slightly different characters and progressively poorly designed 'new' pokemon. Gold was the last good game, the ones on GBA weren't bad, but the DS one's were just poor. If they made an exciting, and decidedly new, pokemon game I might actually have a need to pick up a 3DS. Come on Nintendo, make an original fan want to buy the game!
Zelda is already getting a fan service game (hyrule warriors) its pokemons turn now :l
I'm going out on a limb and guess it's got nothing to do with the games. Various people are going to be there but they prominently mention the voice actors. At least that's how I was told it read. Anyway, I think it's gonna be about the anime.
Nintendo... you announce Pokemon Snap 2 and I'm going squeal like a little girl in excitement!!!
Can't get my hopes up. I don't want to get my hopes up.... and my hopes are up. Hope its that Pokken fighter game... or maybe the full blown pokemon adventure game we have been waiting for?
Fully open world Pokemon game where when you battle it goes into a 3rd person action fighter where you actually control your Pokemon in a non turn based fashion? Cuz that would be a winner in my books. Who doesn't want to fly around as Charizard flaming things?!
Nintendo's Stock just went up if news like this breaks and they have something ready to show in Japan. I could def see that shifting consoles. Especially if the Pokamon from the 3ds can be transferred to the Wii U game and be used in arenas. it's time for game freak to show they can do home console pokemon games. Oh yeah MH3 did not affect the 3ds and you can use the 3ds to communicate with the Wii U.
Pokemon trading card game for iOS. darn
