Something about this guy seems fishy, someone should phil me on onto why I should care about him.

Derekvinyard131188d ago

"caring about videogames is my CURSE because you people are involved and ruining everything." ..... If he thinks this low of games and gamers in general, why doesn't he return the money he earned? ...oh that's right because he's a hypocrite

Th4Freak1188d ago

And how exactly are people who played the game going to give him the experience they got from the game back?

Lets be rational please.

I don't know. I find him entertaining.

That doesn't mean I agree with him, I just find him entertaining. Like sitting in a cafe and watching the crazy people on the street sort of entertaining.

Phil Fish shouldn't be allowed to use the internet

equal_youth1188d ago (Edited 1188d ago )

phil fish should think about what he says and reflect on himself rather than people he does not know. i can't think of a person (not company^^) with lesser empathy for his consumers.

I got to say, I read the article and it really feels like the author is going out of their way to say Phil is trying to do good and basically reading into messages with their own bias to see messages that probably don't exist.

For one thing, I don't think a lot of people view gamers as their own culture (most view it as part of the nerd sub-culture thing, but this is really all besides the point) and I do think the person Fish was quoting was trying to get to idea across that some people associate X with Y and judge people because of that association. For instance, you could be a guy and love watching Romantic Comedies* and some people might find that effeminate. The only difference is that the term "gamer" was probably meant as a general term to refer to a group that enjoys games in the same vein as say moviegoers or bibliophile.

With that being said, I've moved past the point where I think Fish has a point and simply does this because of personal problems or simply wants to feel important, which is what these articles ultimately do. I mean, if we really need someone to pull out their Fish to English dictionary just to bring out the subtile nuances in his ramblings, then there is probably a good chance theres nothing was nothing there in the first place.

* Please do not argue about the example I gave. I tried to keep it simple and inoffensive.

The gaming industry is indeed being held back by the adolescent whiny babies that still plague the 'gaming community', the trouble is Phil Fish is pretty much the perfect example of this kind of whiny surly childish douche. If he wants things to change he ought to try leading by example rather than whining that everyone else is so stoopid like every second comment on this site.
