This game was brilliant. And not many people know that Michael Jackson was a composer for this game.

I always thought Sonic 3 had the worst soundtrack of Sonic's 16-bit games.

Well I thought it was among the best. But that also depends on which version you heard because some tracks changed depending on the version.

Definitely one of my all time favorites, especially Sonic 3 & Knuckles. I played Sonic 1 & 2 back on the Genesis but didn't get the chance to play 3 until years later when I got the Sonic collection on PC. And holy cheese, when I finally did play S3&K it blew my friggin' mind! :)

Those Sonic games really did feel like a roller coaster ride. Watching this video brought back the memories too. I used to be a huge Sonic fan even used to love the cartoon. To me Sonic 2 and 3 are if nothing else among the top greatest games of all time, and they never age. Even now if you never played them, I can almost guarantee you would immediately feel the magic on your 1st try.

yeah i remember i used to walk to toys r us just to play this when it was on demo. The music was awesome and the game just felt like it was more than a side scroller with the special stages and emeralds.

Awesome game. To clarify, when he says "34 meg" he means 34 megaBITs, or 4.25 megaBYTEs. The only people megabits ever made sense to were the marketing types. Bigger (8X) numbers on the ad copy, back in the days of really limited memory sizes. Led to unnecessary confusion that survives to this day.

It was all fun and games until you get to the barrel of DEATH in carnival night zone act 2

Oh gosh, I hated that thing SO MUCH!!! And when I finally figured out how to get past it, I felt so dumb lol

I had actually forgotten about that part. I used to turn the game off when I got to that point, since I didn't know what to do. I had to watch another kid play the game (months after I got the game) to finally beat it.

I enjoyed this very much. Thank you for bringing back beautiful memories.

I thought they removed most of Jackson's input? But yeah great game.
Nerdmaster  +   375d ago
They didn't remove it. Michael let them use the music but didn't want them to put his name in the credits since he wasn't happy about Mega Drive's sound capabilities.
