Dev Explains Why The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Is Not Coming To Xbox One, PS4 Trailer 100% Real Time

Nine months have passed since launch of Xbox One but it seems like controversial "Parity Clause" ghost continues to haunt Microsoft and indie developers, whereas on the other side, Sony are going that extra mile and helping indie developers bring their games first on Playstation 4

Looks like an interesting title. Looking forward to seeing more of it.

Sony PS4 is amazing and I am glad this game is coming out.

Fireseed3542d ago

You don't actually even play video games do you?

mikeslemonade3542d ago

Sony is actually listening to the core gamers. I can't even name all the new IPs they announced yesterday.

***Sony is actually listening to the core gamers. I can't even name all the new IPs they announced yesterday.***

Sony is doing fine on delivering games, but there are a lot of things they could do to improve the PS4. I hope they are working on them, but it's been 9 months since no music file support, no DLNA, no custom music in-game except through their own service, no UI enhancements, etc. All of these impact how we use their device and many impact how we game.

Clogmaster3542d ago

As un-game related things like custom background are.

It makes the device more personal for some people and increases affinity.

I love my PS3 dynamic themes. People always comment on them.

"Sony is doing fine on delivering games, but. . ."

What this proves is that the console manufacturers can't win. While the features you mention are welcome, we know that they are on the way at some point. Many people tried to label the PS4 as the console with no games (which was very inacurate to say the least). Now it has more games available and far more games on the way (compared to competitors). Again, the features of a console are welcome, but maybe the games for our gaming consoles should have a moment to shine before we complain about something new.

***What this proves is that the console manufacturers can't win. ***

Sony doesn't need to win anything for me. I already own a PS4.

As a customer, I want more and better out of Sony and will continue to share my opinion on what that is. That does not mean that I hate the device or think Sony is not providing for me quality goods/services.

EdoubleD3542d ago

I recommend. Checking out the prequel comic they have on their site. Sets the tone of the game.

georgenancy3542d ago (Edited 3542d ago )

typical gamespot downplaying playstation..."looks mostly CG"

LightDiego3542d ago

Gamespot is a huge piece of shit.
And this game looks awesome.

TearsOfARapper3542d ago

You've got yourselves a good title Sony fans! Game looks great! I can only hope this game can get through the whole releasing on another console first wall of ID@Xbox like Outlast did!

Starks3542d ago

They should just drop the parity clause altogether.

GodGinrai3542d ago

@starks

Agreed. It only hurts Xbox users at the end of the day.

MasterCornholio3542d ago

Wasn't there an article saying that Microsoft ditched the parity clause to get outlast?

Or did they merely make an exception for it?

If the parity clause still exists they need go get rid of it.

Volkama3542d ago

The Outlast dev said it was never even discussed. They just spoke to MS about releasing the game and there were no issues.

I don't think it has been formally dropped, but I think MS know it not in their best interest to try and enforce it at the moment.

GribbleGrunger3542d ago (Edited 3542d ago )

Until there is an official withdrawal of the Parity Clause, Indie developers will be very wary of entering into any agreements with Microsoft. 'Hoping' MS will waver the clause for your particular game doesn't instil confidence.

And now that the PS4 has an install base of over 10 million (twice that of MS), it's even less likely they'd want to take that risk. Add to that the financial benefits of creating a game for one console only and it's becoming ever more likely MS will drop the Parity Clause.

I'm afraid it will be too late though. The damage is already done.

Cueil3542d ago

that, not only, is ignorant way of doing business, but hurts your bottom line. This isn't like porting PS3/Xbox 360 these two console run on basicly the same hardware and Microsoft is using familiar APIs for PC developer. I wonder how many of these developers even contact Microsoft like the Outlast guys did?

I loved A Short Hike, and want Firewatch.

Nacho_Z489d ago

Firewatch is one of my favourite games. It was ages ago that I played it but I still think about it, one of those that sticks with you.

What Remains of Edith Finch is brilliant. I would also add Inside to this list.
