Rise of the Tomb Raider vs. Uncharted 4: Xbox vs. PlayStation?

Now that Microsoft has purchased the next Tomb Raider, it seems like we have an epic 2015 clash on our hands, and it's more PlayStation vs. Xbox.

But o/t...there is no chance for TR on PS4 when compared to UC4. Square knows this. At least it has a chance to sell to those with an xb1.

Its ironic that when Uncharted came out people called it Duderaider, but the last Tombraider was more like Uncharted than Uncharted ever was like Tombraider.

Darth, that makes no sense. TR isnt going to sell a massive amount more on XB now because its an exclusive, it will sell about the same on that platform as it was going to anyway. The only difference is the up front cash payoff.

And even if it did get killed on PS by UC4 it still would have sold, where as now it will sell nothing on Playstation. Hell I would have bought both cos I love both games.

By your reckoning TR being exclusive isnt going to sell consoles at all because you say it has no chance against Uncharted so anyone deciding on a console over these 2 games is going Playstation.

So it really begs the question, what is the point for MS if its not selling machines and not selling more copies? Its just another excuse for them to flex their muscles because they can, and burn the fans that helped build the franchise.

I played and loved the last Tomb Raider on ps3 so much that I bought the definitive edition for my newly owned ps4 and it's Fantastic!
If you didn't play it yet, don't talk shit bro. I played all the Tomb raiders and this reboot was the only TR game that kept my interest to the point of actually finishing it. Great game. By the time I'm done with uncharted 4, I'm sure rise of the tomb raider will be available for the ps4 :-D

The Tomb Raider reboot was very good. Personally I prefer it to the Uncharted games, though I would not say it is "better". Just more suited to my tastes.

I'm fairly confident it will go multiplat and that CD is just trying to double dip by taking advantage of MS' desperation to do a cash grab for a delay they probably wanted to do to avoid Uncharted, anyway.

Nevertheless, when you look at this and their comments following the initial sales of the last game, their lack of commitment and faith in their own product, while asking fans (Twice!) to have faith and put their money on that product is irritating. That's not how you do the fans most responsible for reviving your franchise, who put their faith in you despite a number of sub-par prior entries in the series.

One thing is certain though Uncharted 4 will never be on Xbox, but rise of the tomb raider might come to PS4, my guess is around May 2016.

I think the thing many people are forgetting is Tomb Raider will also be available on xbox 360, which means last gen gimp confirmed. Uncharted, as everyone knows, will be the best looking thing on current gen hardware to date whenever it releases. And given the history of the Uncharted trilogy, the gameplay and story should match the pretty.

Well let's be honest if we go with what the reboot was like then it's likely the sequel will be the same which is trying to be Uncharted. The reboot was basically Uncharted with hubs, more set pieces and more near death experiences...it tried to hard instead of being a Tomb Raider game

Actually Uncharted was inspired mostly by Indiana Jones movie pieces as opposed to TR. Though, I see some similarities of the original TR in UC.

The original TR series focused on exploring tombs and caves to find actual treasure. The cinematic and action sequences were totally originated by the Uncharted series and copied by the Tomb Raider remake.

Yes, of course Uncharted still has their own things too but it is definitely inspired by Tomb Raider. They both copied each other in the exact way the iPhone and android copies each other. One was a puzzle game with third person shooter elements the other is a action third person shooter with small puzzle elements.

Yeah I would never have expected everyone to degrade the TR rebooted series just because of SE's announcement. Uncharted has taken the Indiana crown for now. Tomb raider's reboot was needed as the franchise had stalled. It's definitely inspired by the art direction of the uncharted franchise and was better for it. Only time will tell if uncharted will keep its crown. The incredibly poor AI and useless weapons that the first Tomb Raider had makes my choice really easy. I thought the first Tomb Raider was waaaay overrated so I wasn't going to buy the 2nd one any way.

I think that was due more towards the larger install base 360 gained, plus how acclaimed the previous titles were in the halo franchise when Bungie made them.

Halo 4 was just not nearly as good as the others, you could just tell Bungie didn't make it... And I think fans noticed that when Bungie didn't make it, it wasn't as good. I think that is why Halo isn't the hot franchise in the media anymore.

Nothing new there. But to answer the question, Sony still hasn't revealed what some of their major, more well-known and respected studios are working on. It was rather surprising actually, as I thought they would have one huge reveal at GamesCon.

Instead, they just showed a rather unique variety of games which all seemed they could appeal to a number of people. This leads me to believe that Sony isn't too worried about it right now.

Tomb Raider franchise has been trash since 1999 Last Revelation, Underworld, Angel Of Darkness, Anniversary etc. The Tomb Raider reboot was absolutely necessary not only did they reboot TR but killed of the original development studio(core Design)and gave it to crystal dynamics who did a decent job could have done a lot better.Story was very weak pacing was off and characters were forgettable including Lara her performance was ok at best. Uncharted as a series has surpassed TR, bring up Accolades Uncharted, bring up reviews and Universal Appraise Uncharted, Game Developers Uncharted, Gotys Uncharted, Game Sales Uncharted is absolutely dominating it TR has seen 15 releases at best across 30 platforms(Multiplat) 31.89 million Uncharted 4 releases 2 platforms 24 million UC has achieved way more in short period of time than the TR franchise has which is 18 years old to Uncharted's 7 years old.

Xbox1 sales wont change much because I have 3 ways of playing Tomb Raider, xbox1, PC, PS4 a year later. Uncharted...PS4...you want to play, your using a PS4
