Gran Turismo 7 will have improved physics and AI, "big updates" planned for Gran Turismo 6

VVV: "Kaz discusses the advantages the PS4's extra processing power will provide for Polyphony:

“I still cannot go into detail, but developing on PS3 was hard: you don’t have enough memory to do all you want. Our goal was to always preserve the feel of Gran Turismo but with the latest installment we had to face limitations. With PS4 we have a lot of memory available: we’ll be able to exploit it easily, inserting elements that we had to force or withheld on PS3.

There will be better graphics, better physics engine, smarter AI and more online options.” (Gran Turismo 6, Gran Turismo 7, PS3, PS4)

Really looking forward to DC, but I need my sim fix can't wait for GT7.

Perfect lines must stop, let's hope they revolutionize AI ! Other than improved sounds I think I will be in heaven.
UltraNova  +   381d ago
The car sounds definitely need a huge improvement and I really like to see them include realistic engine sounds.

How'bout we get proper physics based damage modelling? Are we not in the future yet?

Improved physics and AI

Well about time we heard some real next gen talk from a console game maker. Next gen is far more bigger than 1080p 60fps my friends.

GT has its work cut out for them seeing how Pcars is also a racing simulator but Polyphony Studios will have to answer the challenge.

Can keep this and DC and PC.

Hopefully they ditch the standard cars and car sounds. I think it's time
telekineticmantis  +   381d ago
Why? Just so reviewers can't mention it? How bout this, if you rather use a smaller portion, of cars and tracks, dont use them, or get Driveclub. I'll take all that good to great content for my 60 dollars please. I dont need everyone nickel and dimeing me with DLC before I get a complete game thanks. Car sound yes, but I'll take 1000 cars over 500 cars any day.
All_Consoles  +   381d ago
I'll take 500 well made cars over 1000 generic ps2 cars and 200 well made cars
telekineticmantis  +   381d ago
All_Consoles
If that was the case that would be disrespectful, I'm talking 4-500 premium PS4 level cars, and they can round it out with up-resed PS3/PS2 cars of course. Leave it at a good 1000-1200 cars, then through in "vision GT" for the DLC.
Koyes  +   381d ago
It's 2014. There shouldn't be any standard cars. I have put thousands of hours into the GT franchise, and hundreds upon hundreds on GT5 and the standard cars was such a downer on the whole experience. There was nothing more ugly than doing the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 'Premium' Mazda 787B only to pass by the 'Standard' cars, such as the Sauber C9, which honestly looked like cars ripped straight from the PS2 era

"I'll take 500 well made cars over 1000 generic ps2 cars and 200 well made cars"

Considering the amount of "well made" cars GT6 has over 2 upcoming cames (50 for DC, 70 for PC), the prospect of removing standards has no bearing on many more high end models we get.

Id take 1000 tracks/locations and just 50 cars. Driving a 1000 cars on a 33 tracks is so boring. Racing developer need to understand more cars is not needed but more tracks means more gameplay. I just need the best cars and exotic locations. Average gamers like me, dont like going on circle on same tracks on different cars. More non-traditional racing tracks means better gameplay. developers lack creativity in creating tracks. same old boring nurburgring tracks from previous gen. boring fucking track again and again.
InTheZoneAC  +   381d ago
I just wish they'd take every standard car and make it a premium.

When I need a car for a class I will make sure it has a detailed interior because that is the only way I'll drive...of course I can always use the hood cam and the bumper cam I prefer the interior cam.
sinncross  +   381d ago
Im indifferent. Getting rid of the 'standard' cars does not equate to more premium cars being made in the game.

PD can ditch the standard cars but there is no correlation to that meaning that they will make another 100 premium cars (to the existing over 400 in GT6)

I am for a more streamlined experience (no standard cars) but I also accept that GT is a game made for car lovers (the large standard number is for them)

Its gonna look beautiful , if driveclub is what the ps4 is capable of in the first year , i cant imagine how stunning this will look in the 2nd or 3rd year of the ps4 .
Muzikguy  +   381d ago
Or 4th, 5th, maybe 6th year. I doubt this is coming out anytime soon. I love the GT series, but PD can seem extremely slow at times. The article mentions about falling behind. That's because there's so much downtime between games. By that I mean actual releases in the numbered series, not prologue and stuff. I can't wait to play GT7 though! And I'm also down with no more standard cars. It's 2014, 8th gen... Premium is the new standard
Sevir  +   381d ago
GT6 had a much faster turn around than GT5... which was often delayed and reworked from GTHD Vision GT to GT5:Prologue to GT5.

PD really had a rough time with PS3 development. In fact... the Japanese Gaming development community suffered the most with PS3, So its good to see the learning curve be lowered.
Muzikguy  +   381d ago
I agree they had trouble with the PS3. The lack of memory and being split didn't help either. I hope for big things now!
Alicornium  +   381d ago
It's about time they make the AI better. I'm guessing early 2016 release.

I'm going to say Summer 2015 to Winter 2015, somewhere in there. That's a year-16 months from now...

I'd like to see more work put into the audio. All you hear from haters are the engines sound like vacuum cleaners. The games are pretty decent besides that.
All_Consoles  +   381d ago
What about the standard cars, lack of cockpit for most cars, mostly Japanese car list, nonexistent damage, paint chips, perfect line AI?
Spotie  +   381d ago
They're usually not that bad. But some of them could definitely be better.

My favorite is still the Option Stream Z in GT3.
system22  +   381d ago
freaking finally. a proper ps4 racing sim... lemme guess tho.. 2015

Day one !
Glad to hear that'll be able to do more with the next installment thanks to the extra memory in the PS4!
with all that goodness inside it, who knows what they'll be doing for GT7! i see it already! Improved graphics, physics engine, improved A.I., better damage system, weather, better online mode, better detailing for vehicles, even better car sounds, when hear the sound of a 69' camaro souns like 69' camaro, etc.
Very interested of what they can do with this one. :-)
level 360  +   381d ago
With GranTurismo I do expect it to be an evolutionary process, but do hope with the 7th series that Sony/Polyphony does bring about a more atmospheric and truer soundscape with all the engines and other vehicle/background related noise.

Think it's a given now that the physics and graphics are definitely topnotch, but damage mode really needs to be "on" at the get go and not be introduced in small variation as in GT6.
specialguest  +   381d ago
I fear that GT7 will have some kind of b/s microtransaction system. 1000+ premium quality cars is not going to be reality unless they start charging for them. In addition, all of those cars will not be available at launch or months afterwards.
