In-Game Ads, they're coming for you & don't be surprised if they hit your console

When will the ad madness stop? Everytime you open something up, YouTube, newspaper, your curtains it seems there are adverts everywhere so the latest annoucement doesn't come as a surprise, but it does still annoy the hell out of us. I wouldn't be surprised that if in the next few years they don't pop up in the middle of a console game!

If they start pulling this crap to the point where I deem it excessive, I'll flash my router with a new firmware and block all the ads from there. I don't mind them if they fit in with the game (and are non intrusive), like a signboard in a city, but if I was playing something like say a WW2 shooter, then I get a bet365 advertisement, I'd be blocking it within minutes.

Exactly. Like in NFL 2k5, they had the Burger King halftime report. Made sense, actually gave the game a more authentic feel.

But, adding ads to my games. No thanks if it interrupts or ruins gameplay.

You can't have ads in Dark Souls though, just doesn't work.

What do you mean you can't have ads in DS? I have a SL lvl 215 Pepsi build with a John Deere helm, Mechanic gloves, Nike leggings and a Remington Ultra Great sword.

In game adverts are awesome I remember in Bad company one or two their was a movie poster of Tropic Thunder. Of course it depends on the game but I thought it was pretty entertaining

Whenever I see an ad for just about anything I make it a point to avoid buying what's being advertised. I refuse to give these advertisers any power over my purchases.

Ads in game are a touchy subject for me. I personally don't believe I should EVER see an ad when I have paid for a game. Are you guys really okay with spending 60 bucks on a game and there being ads in it?

I am okay with billboard or poster type of ads that are just in the background. I don't play sports games so I can't comment on the "Burger King" Halftime report.
