"The official listing for Assassin's Creed Unity at Sony Entertainment Network currently indicates that the title is expected to run at 720p resolution on the PlayStation 4."
Chances of it being a mistake are high. Same happened with Ultimate Spiderman 2, Trials Fusion.
I actually laughed when I read the headline because of how improbable this is
@butterscotch Microsoft wouldn't bother, waste of their money-better off getting eclusive content which they have done (I hate the practice-they started it I wish sony hadn't continued it but nvm wont make any sane person pick one console over the other just pisses off and punishes gamers.)
Butterscotch the only reasonable reply to that ridiculous comment is....what, what. You know the rest.
This is either a mistake, or purposely done as a mockery to the people who file lawsuits over resolution. Imagine taking Sony or Ubisoft to court because you expected Assassin's Creed Unity to be at 720p and instead it was at 1080p. The hilarity. If I were the judge I'd laugh that out of court myself.
Maybe Microsoft has a policy that ours has to be higher resolution or both have to only be up to 720p to get the lower rate for putting it on the xbox one. Something like that is the only reason I would think it would be 720p on ps4. And I really think it is a clever marketing tactic out of hollywoods page that they will magically declare was a misprint. It will be 4k! haha (someone will be the first).
Enemy " No chance. If it's 720p on PS4, expect 540p on Xbox One." you mean the xbox doesn't have enough memory to render a 720p image? i think it does.
It could be 720p because Ubisoft is lazy. A lot of 3rd-party developers are lazy (meaning their energy and motivation is money-based). From what I've seen of Unity, there's no reason for it to run at sub-HD levels UNLESS they're lazy. Or stupid.
If it's 720p/60fps I'd be cool with that.
"Assassin's Creed Unity May Run At 720p On The PS4" https://store.sonyentertain... This may be true, i don't know. i remember when sony changed the info for watch dogs, an other ubisoft sandbox title.
Wow, you can see how many people think it's a great thing that Sony is being sued over resolution by the disagree count on my comment. Yeah, some of that is people who disagree with me just to disagree with me, but still. It's frickin' sad that people think resolution is worthy of a lawsuit. If anything proves how too focused everyone is on graphics these days, it's definitely that lawsuit.
@dragonknight I think the disagrees are because you are misunderstanding what is being sued about. It's not about games not being 1080p rather that Sony said x game was 1080p but supposedly it isn't so false advertising etc. If it turns out to be correct then Sony should be accountable as should any company that falsely advertises something.
I'm guessing that after the recent lawsui Sony are just being cautious.
LOL, Is there even one game on PS4 at 720p?
@The_KELRaTH: Umm, I'm not misunderstanding anything. Someone cares so much about resolution that they are suing Sony because a game isn't what they consider to be native 1080p. Like so many have said countless times, Microsoft advertised a buttload of games as being native 1080p on the 360 and have received exactly zero lawsuits for having 720p games upscaled to 1080p. Guerrila Games even explained the whole situation. The disagrees are definitely because people want Sony to be sued and they don't care that suing over resolution is the absolute definition of a frivolous lawsuit.
I know. What a disaster that would be. How would the XB1 version perform if the PS4 couldn't even reach 720p, and, knowing Ubi's track record, would the game even be playable on PC?
This is N4G. The dumber the headline, the more hits it gets. And if it DID run at 720p upscaled to 1080p, it would be because they are maxing out the graphics. More graphics features = more power, meaning you need to turn down the resolution to keep the frame rate high. It wont happen, but I could live with a 720p version of the game maxed out, rather than 1080p equating to "medium" on the PC.
720p on PS4 that's the highest form of blasphemy (•ิ_•ิ)
After taking a look at http://www.ign.com/wikis/xb... i found out that there isn't a single game that runs 720p on ps4 though here are 900p60fps, 900p30fps, 1080p30fps Still, Ubisoft are known for making badly optimized games. So maybe it's possible
There's an equal amount of chance in 720p as there is Xbone being 1080p. Not a hope in hell
Ubi are one of the crappiest devs out there, if anyone has the potential to make a game so horridly coded that it could only push 720p on the PS4 it will be them.
Damn it Butters.
I wish I could see his comment -_-
I agree I'm pretty sure this is a mistake. This will be cleared up and old news in no time.
If it is true, it gives me a great excuse to not buy at launch.
if thats your excuse..GL WITH LIFE LOL
I look at it differently. If it did run at 720p, that tells me its a very demanding game and a true nxt gen experience. The resources would obviously be used elsewhere and maybe it could be a better game for it. I like high res as much as the next guy, but its nothing to get hung up about IMO.
@Angry I agree, I look at what Naughty Dog accomplished on PS3 @720p. Sure higher resolution is great, but it is definitely not the only metric.
You should not buy it because it represents everything that's F'ed up with the video game industry. It's an annual release tethered to some BS called uplay with overpriced DLC sprinkled in. If AC were a t.v. Show they'd be on like season 9, it's time to wrap that shit up and move on. When switching the gender of your main character becomes a big deal for your game you've run out of ideas.
oh what fuc!&^%$#k what wrong with those people i hope that is not true for god sick not cool ubisoft again..
"Same happened with Ultimate Spiderman 2, Trials Fusion." Which both wound up being 1080p so its just a placeholder. Mystery solved. There is also this... http://www.gamespot.com/art...
I hope so, pre-ordered it last night on the premise of 1080p/60fps.
If that's true, what the Hell are they doing at Ubisoft?
no ps4 for me. PC
All hell broke loose!!!! (sony fans)
If it runs at 60 fps, than I'd be cool.
Well, when a game isn't linear, it uses more resources. Also, if it's running campaign co-op, it will really eat resources.
Kinda hard to 720p and i dont care if it run on 10p potato mode quality , i would still play that :)
Highly doubt that, for either console.
Highly doubt it would really matter, considering how beautiful it looks, and with how much is on screen, and the amount of detail. But, yes, I'm thinking the rez will be higher than 720p.
It would be a strange move for Ubisoft (this early in a console's life cycle)
Yeah and the psn store said Watch_Dogs ran 1080p 60fps preemtively so either its a mistake or sony are playing it safe as some people threw shit at them over that. But lets say this is true right? and it's only 720p on ps4 then what is it on Xbox one? 480p? I somehow doubt it-it'll be 900p or 1080p on both. Seeing as Watch_Dogs almost certainly suffered from developers being fragmented between console generations and last gen consoles clearly needing more work to get the game running decently on them this doesn'thave that issue so I expect at least 1080p 30fps on both consoles if not 60fps like I think AC4 runs, considering this is a new engine desgined for the new console hardware and better pc hardware optimisation should be less time consuming/easier as these consoles are closer to PC instead of having engines that needed to run well on very different architecture.
It must be a very high demanding game then. I doubt 720p though, if it's like Watch_Dogs then it'll at least be in 900p. I don't believe this is true anyways though, but prepare for the overreacting people.
Must be going for insane detail if it will be 720p on consoles.
it says ps4 only
And your expecting higher for Xbox? Xbox Can either match this or go lower, if its 720p on PS4, there is only one way the Xbox One can go in terms of resolution. So if it turns out to be true then you best expect both consoles to be 720p or Xbox lower. So its a fair statement for him to say "consoles"
Or XB1 was all ways more powerful. Developers didn't know how to use the hardware from the start..... But if Sony told you that, most would say no "Sony is wrong" just like they did here on page 13 CPU and GPU Bandwidth Interaction 135GB/s then post a link to a Gameing Bolt saying it's 176GB/s.......... http://develop.scee.net/fil...
@marcofdeath: we know the specs of both systems, xbone is most certainly *not* more powerful than PS4. get your head out of the sand because there's no secret sauce hidden under the xbone's hood.
@ Marcofdeath one word come to mind when I read your comment, DELUSIONAL
@ziggurcat @seanpitt23 I come with FACTS, you don't, that's why i win... Even now XB1 is getting better with every new game. I said this a long time ago. 1080p is now becoming the standard on XB1, that's a win. GDDR 5 is not better than XB1's memory system, i called that a long time ago, plus No one in the industry will use GDDR5 with a SOC or APU, that should tell you something! Third-party game developers are using Xbox ones as lead platforms. COD AW, ACU, Division and others that are switching to physics-based rendering, the fact that no games on PS4 is using any of these FX tell you alot. The fact that the only facts about XB1's GPU is 768ops and Not ALU is a big thing. Ms saying that it's not CU as in PS4 but SPU as in the R series GPU is also big.. MS saying it's a next-GEN GPU, that's big! Now that RYSE is officially the best looking game out of all NEXT-GEN games to date, like i said. So yes i can talk $hit, i back it up!!!!!!!!!!!
@marcofdeath: "come with FACTS, you don't, that's why i win... " no, you come with regurgitated misterx nonsense, and that's why you're always wrong. xbone GPU specs: http://www.techpowerup.com/... (note the highlighted line that says, "We recommend the AMD Xbox One GPU for gaming with highest details at resolutions up to, and including, 1680x1050.") PS4 GPU specs: http://www.techpowerup.com/... (note the highlighted line that says, "We recommend the AMD PlayStation 4 GPU for gaming with highest details at resolutions up to, and including, 1920x1080.") edit: also note that the only GPU spec that's better on xbone is the 853mhz clock speed, but that's completely negated by the fact that the memory clock speed in the PS4 GPU is much higher. there's already been GPU benchmark tests done between PC, xbone, and PS4. guess who won between xbone, and PS4? http://wccftech.com/playsta... and still waiting on those in-game Ryse images that demonstrate those magical physics-based rendering techniques shown in the singular tech demo image you keep posting... "Ms saying that it's not CU as in PS4 but SPU as in the R series GPU is also big" where/when have they said this?
marcofdeath or Mister X's new account. what a delusional twat. I can understand fanboys of thing like PC and PS4 because they are good. But why be a fanboy for the loooooooowest common denominator. It truly is a shit box of a "next gen" console. There is very little to have fanatic love for. Unless of course you love shit.
That's similar to my position on this. Anyday I'd trade resolution for deeper games with more gameplay elements, better AI, connectivity etc. IF it isn't on 1080p, I think there could be some great use for the extra resources on 720p. Gameplay over graphics always, specially when it's 720p x 1080p.
The game is still very far from release and Sony does not list the native rendering resolutions of games on the PS Store, they often list output resolutions but that doesn't mean they are correct, especially this early. The store is wrong in multiple places, look at Little Big Planet 3; it states a release date of March 2015 but it's supposed to release this November.
considering that it's openworld with all that detail, i am not surprised.
Other open world games would like to have a word with you. This is a PSN Store page... people need to learn that this Infos that are there are not true...
Other open world games pale in comparison to this one. With crowds they are saying capable of 30k, and 1:1 building sale this game is massive, hard to call the resolution right now. I personally think it will be higher though.
I don't think any open world game so far has the graphics Unity has. At the moment, AC Unity is looking graphically better than Infamous Second Son which is mental. Not only that but the density of the crowds, the scope of the world, and the fact that 1 in 4 buildings have explorable interiors is groundbreaking. Really excited for its release even it is 720p (which I highly doubt)
If this is 720p what will the Xbox run at. 600p?
Upscaled to 480p. I kid, I kid. Edit - I think Green was one of the people who thought XB1's Watch Dogs would have a more dynamic city because of the cloud. Still hanging on to that fantasy I guess.
lol 720p WTF
Aw man, every bit of news has been positive so far on this game. Please let this be a silly little error. I want 1080p native resolution for this next-gen only title.
It is probably the compromise they had to make so Paris doesn't feel empty like seatle in infamous lol
I don't know if you really played Infamous, but i had more fun with this game than any AC recently.
Infamous is awesome graphically, which is why I bought it. It's parkour is leaps behind AC though, understandably when you think of how long AC has been refining it. It is very noticeable though early on when you have no powers and you are scaling walls. Then later, when you have powers like neon, and run up walls and constantly get hooked on things, it becomes very annoying. It's weird, cuz going horizontally, they know to let you automatically hover over certain objects to make everything flow better, but vertically you get caught up on every little object. That was a major pain for me with Infamous, the maneuvering being less than stellar.
Maybe Sony is playing safe, remembering the Watchdogs shitstorm.
Not possible, the Xb1 version was running close to 900p during E3. Human error definite.
Sure! After all it is Ubisoft! No way they could have downgraded graphics after its heavy marketing demos... No way at all!
yeah I just don't see this as being terribly Plausible since Black Flag ran higher than 720p.
