Pixel Rift Set for Release in 2015

Following in the footsteps of Bojan Brbora and his critically acclaimed 4PM, National Film & Television School (NFTS) student Ana Ribeiro has revealed to VRFocus her plans for the public release of graduate project, Pixel Rift. Developed primarily as a virtual reality (VR) experience, Pixel Rift will be made available to purchase in 2015.

Zeena Al-Obaidi: "Developing for virtual reality (VR) is anyone’s game as there is an incredible influx of independent forces all working individually for the same cause: to make VR happen. This isn’t a new phenomenon in any sense of the word as there have always been indie developers for all industries, especially in the gaming industry, but what’s different about being an indie dev in VR is that there isn’t any promise as such of success as you are essentially betting on something entirely unpredictable. But what it takes, and did it have to take, for a developer to pack up their previous work to concentrate on pioneering a new industry is something worth being noted."

Surreal VR Game Pixel Rift Renamed Pixel Ripped 1989. Hits Kickstarter

Marcus Estrada writes: "If you've been following the coolest upcoming games in the virtual reality scene then chances are you've heard of Pixel Rift. Well, the title has received a name change to Pixel Ripped 1989, but beyond that, it still looks to maintain the aspects which made it stand out to begin with. Players assume the role of Nicola, a young and game-obsessed child. All she wants to do is play her Game Girl in class, but the hawk-eyed teacher makes that hard to accomplish. When in a VR headset, you've actually got to look down in order to play the handheld and then check back up every so often to avoid the teacher's glare."

Pixel Rift Receives Name Change, Aims for Multi-Format Release

The highly anticipated Pixel Rift has received a name change, developer Ana Ribeiro has today confirmed. Set to be released under the name ‘Pixel Ripped’, Ribeiro’s team are now aiming for a release on multiple virtual reality (VR) formats as opposed to developing solely for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD).
