Destiny‘s beta was extremely successful, and the game is now speeding towards its release on September 9th, but on what platforms will people play? A reddit-base survey with 1250 respondents tried to answer that question.
Destiny is going to be HUGE on all platforms. Come September it's going to be the all formats No.1 for a good few weeks, maybe even through to the Christmas holidays. Playstation platforms will definately benefit with the PS3/PS4 Destiny Bundles going into the holiday season. There are very few games that can really challenge Destiny for Multiplayer space this year. FIFA 15 might unseat it in September - at least in teh UK; and GTA V might unseat it in October (although I'm not so sure); COD:Advance Warfare may knock it down a few pegs in November, even though at the moment Destiny is tracking higher pre-order numbers than COD:AW (to be expected as COD:AW doesn't release for another 3 months). I think Destiny is also tracking higher pre-order numbers than Watchdogs did pre-release. The Destiny Beta numbers are certainly higher than the watchdogs pre-order numbers at this point. It will be interesting to see which game will come out as the Christmas all formats No.1.
What I believe is if this survey becomes a reality than maybe devs and publishers should move on to this generation and stop with cross generation games. That way it will yield better results utilizing this generation hardware to it's fullest potential. Because Destiny is a really good game but it's not exactly a graphical beast and makes me wonder how different the AI, physics, mechanics, and especially the graphics, might have been if only made for this generation hardware.
You're right. Assassin's Creed Rogue should be pretty awesome.
These will be the real numbers. PS4 55% xb180 25% PS3 7% XB360 13%
Thank you. http://i.telegraph.co.uk/mu...
Makes sense honestly. Xbox One owners have a variety of shooters to play this fall - including not one, but FOUR Halo titles. As soon as MCC and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare release, Destiny players on Xbox One will be damn near ghost. PS4 owners are actually really looking forward to this title. And have to for some time. Me personally, I didn't really see the hype behind Destiny. Why would anyone choose that over Halo?
Loot drops, special gear, fully customizable "loadout", leveling up, it's new, open world, the storyline, it's Bungie and they aren't making Halo, some people don't like Halo, dance emoting. Why do they have to choose one over the other anyway? You make it sound like playing Destiny = giving up the ability to play Halo.
@Blaze929, Planet Side 2 will also be dropping for PS4, and CoD:AW also available for PS4. I really dont see PS4 "lacks" shooters...
Because its actually made by the people that made Halo great in the first place and Halo is played out.
It will be PS4 but first it needs to hit the sales bin. Destiny is a solid and very good shooter but I wanted a more MMORPG shooter game. Therefore I can play it when it's getting cheaper ^^ and yeah I'm a single player type of gamer :D Fallout 3 MMO would be a dream come true ...
You know that it will get many more features as time comes. If u love mmo's, u know that u need to get in from the jump.
Bungie is avoiding the term MMO for a good reason because it is not really a MMO. It just borrows some elements. Features may come but the whole game does not feel like a MMORPG at all. It's just like visiting maps and do this do that and go back to the tower. The exploration feel gets lost very fast. I don't see this change anytime soon. They deliver a fast paced fun shooter but not a MMO where you can be sucked in for days to come. It probably isn't meant to be a MMO in the first place.
So what are the missing 2% playing it on?
VITA? :-/ Oh wait that's Borderlands 2...
2% = pc gamers waiting anxiously
2% will beg for a WiiU port.
I know this is wrong but I laughed.
What do you mean "will" they already are crying about it not being on Wii U. At this point it should just be called the Nintendo player.
No PC :( .. Some of us can't afford a console
I'm assuming you're joking, because if you can afford to keep a decent gaming PC up to date then you should have no problem affording a console
Its not as black and white as that. Almost every household needs a PC. He might be a in position to have a PC (decent gaming PC's don't cost millions like some here like to state) plus afford some upgrades (or his household PC came with a decent GPU, processor etc).
Yeah, because everyone can afford to throw down $450(price for PS4 in my area) at once for a console. It's not like me or any other pc gamer saved up for weeks to catch different parts on sale or used. You and everyone else who disagreed with me and agreed with you need to get your heads out out of your asses and think about everyone else.
Rumoured for about March. It's been seen in steam db already, and Activision pretty much acknowledge it makes sense. But I'll be xboxing it in September, because playing with friends is better than playing with more pixels.
Lol! Considering that more people played on PS4 and PS3 than XBO and XB360 I'm pretty sure that point you made is null. You can play with friends or join in a stranger's party and play too. I'll take that plus more pixels on PS4. :)
Null how? How many people play a particular version does not change the fact that my own friends are playing on the xbox version, so I will play there. I wasn't trying to imply that the One version was the best version. Incidentally, the PS4 and One versions both have the same number of pixels. About 25% of the number my PC would render the game in. Capiche?
Doesn't matter what platform it's played, it will be a huge game. Something that may rival call of duty in terms of sales. I can't wait to play it again, but good thing I have the last of us.
It will not rival COD, casual gamers and hardcore gamers play COD. Casual gamers will not pick up Destiny like they have done COD.
unfortunately ur right
Half if not more of the XB1 players will leave Destiny come November anyway. XB1 Destiny will be a ghost town.
The beta seem lively, had no problem finding games.
Look at the ODST icon. He is talking about Halo MCC.
no it wasn't an issue, I played it on both PS4 and Xb1 and enjoyed it. MCC is coming in November and Destiny will be on the back burner for many once that hits on the XB1.
the MCC is gonna be big but people playing Destiny on XB1 wont just up and leave it, be serious.
I don't think saying that people playing Bungie's new game might leave to play Bungie's old IP is that unreasonable.
You shoulda probably threw MCC in with this comment... People are going to read it and probably take it the wrong way. I knew you were referring to the MCC immediately, but it appears 10 others (disagrees) did not. Halo MCC is going to be huge.
When are surveys gonna stop being used as news?
Well 7/10 news websites think that they're a legitimate source of information..
statistics can be used to prove anything, 90% of all people know that.
I played the beta on XB1 and wasn't really blown away. Its a nice scifi shooter, but nothing ground breaking. PS4 gamers are just starving for something to put up as the must have game for the system. IMO the Halo collection is the only game worth the day one $60 purchase. Everthing else will get purchased when they are inevitably discounted in a month or two.
I completely disagree with you about the PS4 gamers, and Halo: MCC being the only $60 day one purchase. But I completely agree with you about Destiny. I just don't get the hype at all. It's a solid game gameplay mechanics, graphics, and everything. But I don't know.
I agree I don't like it and think its really overrated. I can see why some people love it and will think is the next great one but there are to may flaws that make it a compelling co-op shooter.
With so few people playing on last gen consoles it makes me wish the devs focused on next gen only and put more resources towards upgraded graphics or framerate. I'm sure if it wasn't on last gen consoles some of that 16% would have just bought new consoles to play it. They sacrificed the visuals to appeal to 10% of customers.
im in the 32% then
Same here, good times ahead
wish i could play it on my pc, both the next consoles have sh!t graphics for this game
...but better than a screen displaying nothing, right?
I'm in the 2% :(
as long as i got my friends to do raids with I all good
One day someone will make one system to rule them all. When that happens all of us will play Destiny 2 together! End of line.
I'm good with a 3 platform future, let me explain. PlayStation, Nintendo Fusion handheld, and SteamXbox (MS + Valve = PC gaming full force, with a console box for ease of use). That is my dream utopia. No more 3 consoles + PC + 2 handhelds. PS5 = High End console SteamXbox = High End console (but still just a Windows Steam PC) Nintendo Fusion = Handheld with HDMI-out (Wii U performance) Life would be good. I wouldn't have to buy a PS4, Wii U, XBO, PC, 3DS, Vita. Just 3 simple things (SXbox and PC are the same thing in this case).
Nintendo Fusion is a terrible idea and everyone knows it. A portable handheld with HDMI out is not a bad idea. However merging your home console and your handheld is stupid as hell and will not sell. It would be way too expensive and parents aren't going to pay 3 or 400 dollars for a portable gaming device for their children. The 3DS was a flop until its price dropped significantly. So The Fusion is a bad idea.
@MSBAUSTX That's because, people are expecting fusion to be a home console + handheld, when in reality if it happens it should be as I said a handheld with HDMI-out. There's really no need for a Nintendo home console, since most of their audience buys their handhelds, and the console is a complete toss up. The charging cradle for the fusion, could be used as an HDMI-out port, so while you're charging it you have it connected to your HDTV, and you can sync your controller / gamepad to it for playing on the big screen. Hardware wise, Tegra K1, is practically there with PS360 based on specs (still need to see real world performance). The NVIDIA Shield Tegra K1 tablet only cost $299 right now. Tegra K1 should be mainstream come 2015, and $199 devices should come out later that year. Tegra K1 + Denver, should be launching late 2015 at probably $299. IT should become mainstream 2016 with some devices starting at $199. Tegra K1 + Denver is basically a Wii U technologically speaking, and if the Nintendo Fusion comes out holiday 2016, then it can very well be $199 with Wii U levels of performance (which is great for a handheld), and will only get better the longer they hold off (2016 - 2018). N-Fusion Handheld (2016) Tegra K1 + Denver 2GB RAM $199 I agree the home console / controller that a handheld is an expensive and bad idea for Nintendo (who thrives via inexpensive products), which is why the above has always been my idea of what fusion would be (aka basically the end of their home console, with their handheld being able to game on TVs)
That is a survey that sounds pretty spot on.
Ps3 is a RPG headquarters now it seems
But why most of people will play it in PS4? Wasn't xbox live supposed to be the best online service?/s
Because PS4 has higher install base, and is getting exclusive content. Just because those facts are there doesn't mean it has better online service. Just means more people bought the PS4 than the XB1 which means MORE people will play Destiny on the PS4 than the XB1.
Because the PS4 is supposedly outselling the Xbone 3:1 outside of the US... and outselling the Xbone in the US too.
twice and many ps4's out there
Oh come now. Let Xbots keep up that delusion. They need something to feel better about :)
I'm in the 32% I got the bone
This game will sell well on all platforms. Everyone will be able to find games and players easily. Man, I can't wait for this game. Already put in a personal day at work and amped for this. The only thing that could make this better if the September update for X1 offers preload. I have a feeling this game is going to be a monster in size for DL.
It is still Bullsh** that this game is coming to PS3 and XB360 and Not to Wii U. Wii U is more than capable of running games that both of those systems can and it is actually a little stronoger than them as well. So the fact it was overlooked is IMO Bullsh**. However, I own a PS4 and will be playing it on there. I just wish that the Wii U was given the game so there would be some third party titles coming to it other than indie games. Oh well, I will still play it and be happy.
After playing the Beta I'm really looking forward to Destiny on PS4.
That's good that they have a survey, but I don't think this game will be the success everyone wants it to be.
Xbox owners will play destiny till halo drops...
Thats my plan.
62.7% of all percentages are made up on the spot
I thought it was slightly higher than that.
