The case for next-gen remasters

With the amount of remasters we've gotten so far, the current-generation is feeling like last generation for some but is the backlash against these games warranted? PS4 Daily certainly doesn't think so. (PS4, Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition, The Last Of Us Remastered, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Xbox One)

it really depends, and kind of subjective too... For example I disagree when Tomb Raider Definitive edition was announced with a price of $60. With TLOU:R, I think $50 was ok, and Sony also had other reason such as getting few more to buy a PS4 with Destiny right around the corner. I guess it really comes down to pricing. I believe if they are all about $40 to $50 max, it's ok.
I like the idea of a remaster because a lot of developers couldn't achieve their full vision on last gen hardware. The last of us in particular. Even though it was the best looking game to come out of last gen it didn't take much looking to see cut corners. On ps4 they were able to make it what they wanted to make it on ps3.

The Tomb Raider remake was really just an "ultimate edition" that they decided to put on ps4 also. Same with Injustice.

I'm not paying for a game I already purchased and finished. I bought a PS4 to play new games. If I wanted to play old games I would have just saved my money and continued playing on my 360
