EU Commissioner disses Microsoft: open standards are smart business

Ars Technica reports: Even though Microsoft has publicly committed to full interoperability when it comes to its products, the software giant is having a hard time convincing the EU of its good intentions. The latest evidence of the skepticism it faces on the Continent came in the form of a speech given by Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes in Brussels. While not mentioning Microsoft by name, Kroes called upon businesses and governments in the EU to choose open standards.
