The original Resident Evil has been remade one too many times, as Capcom is beating a dead horse, milking the undead masterpiece one too many times, as it is aparent that Resident Evil HD Remaster is a blatant cash-grab.
Hmm remakes....contentious things. If they're decent and fit within today's environment then I don't see why it shouldn't be good fan service. Otherwise, cash grab.
They should really just remake RE2 and 3. Feels like a real waste
Yesterday I was like all excited for this. Now you've gotten me thinking :S I must reluctantly agree that the upgrades doesn't justify a remake. If Capcom adds real next-gen graphics, then yes.
I agree with the closing statement. I really would prefer a remake of RE 2 or 3, this is definitely a cash grab.
If this remake were a mashup of RE1, 2 and 3? Surely then it could be interesting.
Definately, but see i think it will cost much more to remake RE2 and 3 due to them not having been remade on the GameCube like the original.
I would buy it. Played this on the PS1. Couldn't finish it then, hopefully this time around. If this sells well, hopefully Re2 and 3 will be remastered as well.
I think its a sign from Capcom that they already working on RE2 Remake
One has to wonder how long Capcom will stay in business making these type of decisions and not focusing on new IP and rehashing old ones.
Because their recent resident evils have been doing spectacular, am I right? They need to shelve 7 for a bit. Focus on HD 123, then just maybe somebody at Capcom will have learned what made a resident evil game resident evil. Then come back to 7 and actually make a good game.
I'm happy they make an HD update of the first game. I take HD updates of the old RE games any day over 5, 6 and what horrible game they could make with 7.
Then don't buy it. To some of us its very welcome. Choice, we have it. Look at all the money people spend on sports games every year for a roster update. And people are getting bent out of shape because I want to play a 20 year old game in HD. Please...
I love HD remasters and RE 1 is definitely a welcome one. Hey maybe this will make Capcom aware of the magic they lost that made RE so great.
Can't say it better than you mate If some people think they already play the game and don't have enough reason to buy it again than DON'T BUY IT. No one force them anyway. But other people who wants to feel nostalgic again with updated graphic, people who lost their collection (like me), or people who never play / don't have a clue about Resident Evil series (obviously there are a lot of new gamer who started on gaming from this gen) will have the choices to experience one of the best title in RE series with this remaster.
I just hope Capcom realize that the fans want the old Resident Evil games back, as in actual horror, hopefully this game will spark that.
I never got to play it so this is a good opportunity for me!
I think you will enjoy this game a lot mate. There's two playable character in this game: Chris and Jill. Both of them have their own plus and minus (Chris can take more damaged than Jill, but Jill have lockpick and more slot to bring items than Chris). Also, there's multiple ending for both characters. One tips from me: if you find a magnum than don't use it except for the final boss. With magnum, you can finished the final boss more easy compare to other weapons.
I played the original, so i know how it goes.
I am pretty sure that this is the litmus test to see if people want action or survival horror and not to mention the cube version is hard to come by i dont see why anyone wouldnt be celebrating the making of this game
Funny how all these journalists were gushing over remastered last gen games from barely a year ago like TLOU, Tomb Raider DE, and GTA, but somehow when a game that came out several years ago on a system that most people don't own and can't even purchase in the store anymore, gets remastered for a new generation, it's considered exploitation? The amount of hypocrisy surrounding this community is astounding.
Don't you mean, beating an undead horse? On topic: This is just Capcom testing the waters to determine the viability of a return to survival horror. On a side note, a 1080p60fps remaster of re4 with move and shoot controls would be amazing.
This can be Capcom seeing if the old formula of Resident Evil still works in these days of action shooters, which they have stated many times before that it doesn't for some reason. Or my guess is that they are running out of ideas of where to take the series. They thought going the more 'action' oriented formula that was indicitive of games these days will be the norm. Although RE5 & RE6 sold well, the mixed messages Capcom received from the public outcry made them try to figure out where to go. This remaster is definitely them trying to see if going back to the old formula is the path the series is meant to go. We'll see.
Good points, I for one hope they plan to go back to the RE roots
My god; articles like this make me vomit. Sickening that Capcom is giving us something "we want" and some stupid bit** has to complain somewhere and call it a cash grab... People are pathetic.
I thought the author was asking the question as well, not just saying it's a money grab
I would rather have a remake of 1 than 7
Sick of remakes..just like the movie industry..
