It Will Take More Than Another Resident Evil Remake to Bring Capcom Back From the Dead

Seriously, a remake of a twenty year old game on PS4/Xbox One is the last thing we need. Let's just do a next-gen remake of Spyro: The Dragon while we're at it.

This isn't a remake just an updated port, the Gamecube remake of the original Playstation version, that was a true remake.

I would like a true remake of Resident Evil 2 and 3.

That's about all they could do to get my interest, cause the Resident Evil's that they're are making these days RE4, RE5, RE6 are total crap, not even Resident Evil anymore.

People love RE1 so they will make money on it but I agree that it will take a lot more to save Capcom from debt and its own bad business practices.

Yeah that might be true but I love RE1 so I'm definitely going to get it. The only thing Capcom really got going for them is Street Fighter. If they sink, I just hope they don't drag the IPs with it.

Well they can start with this then move on to a new Onimusha followed by Capcom vs SNK 3,no locked dlc,revive some of thier ips that have been dormant for.awhile.

Yeah, but if these sell really well expect the Resident Evil 2 Remake we've all been waiting for!

It's the only way were going to send a clear cut message to Capcom letting them know we don't like the direction there taking! Ahem, Resident Duty....

I can also sleep better a night knowing we haven't gotten a new Onimusha game that would taint the series, like the recent Devil May Cry game.

If we buy these remasters maybe Capcom will give us a true Onimusha sequel or remake without straying too far from the original formula that made it so great, partly inspired by Resident Evil ?

I wonder if people and the child that wrote this article understands that Capcom is selling more copies than ever on their average Resident Evil games, 5 and 6.
The challenge is to please multiple groups of bastard players AND the real gamers.

This is awesome to get a all new generation of gamers to experience the true Resident evil experience i can't wait til this releases the game is a masterpiece of survival horror finally its coming out for more platforms the nintendo exclusivity was not getting it sales at all, I bet this is a testing ground for more Survival horror like RE games maybe if this does well we shall get the long wanted RE2 REmake! :)

It's cheaper and less work-intensive than making a full-on remake of RE2 or Code Veronica. Always cutting those corners, Capcom.

Disagree. A remake/reboot would be welcomed. This is not that. All this is will be higher resolutions and some better mechanics.

I liken the remasters to blu-ray releases of films you only owned on VHS. Not the same thing as a remake ...

Maybe working on a game that got everything right could serve as a training ground for them. Perhaps they could learn a thing or two about what Mikami did and use that knowledge in the next RE game. Perhaps it can be an incentive to go for other remakes (2, Code Veronica, Outbreak)? I don't know, but I chose to not be negative about it. If nothing else, it will be refreshing to get a RE that looks, sounds and plays like a RE again (I never got to play the GC/Wii version anyway).
So yes, I'm excited for this.
