Activision Blizzard just held its financial conference call for Q2 of fiscal year 2014, and shared some new information about the expected performance of Destiny, which will launch for PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 on September 9th.
Not surprised as the game is very good, but then again, they would never say the didn't believe in the game as they are publishing it.
Yes yes it is...I love destiny...amazing game
They need to fix the side turning that crap is slow as hell even on 10.
You slow to a crawl if your trying to punch and turn. That drove me crazy at times. At least I noticed that at times. Hopefully that's fixed by release.
The beta felt a little lacking for me personally. I couldn't help but compare it to borderlands and it just couldn't stack up for me. It's shaping up to be a good game, just not for me.
same here. I tried to be a beliver but it just didn't work out for me at all. The beta was cool with buddies but it became a snoozefest with just killing aliens. Believe me killing aliens is fun but with out a story it because boring. Will the real game have a campaign?
My take is the "story" will be served in bite sized pieces a là Halo: 4 Spartan Ops. There will probably episodic type story telling as we unlock newer strikes and raids. But no, to the traditional "campaign."
I'm sorry to have to tell you this...but in the beta...your were playing the campaign. The beginning of it anyway
But do you like Borderlands? I don't understand how so many people can make comparisons to games they do like while citing their disappointment in Destiny. My personal friend was extremely put off by the Beta, simply because it was "too Halo" - but the thing is he loves Halo! I asked how something being so similar to something he loved be bad, and he said they shouldn't have decided to do scifi-FPS. (silly if u ask me) For me, I love Borderlands, and I love Halo. Destiny is looking to be the best combination, with hopefully sufficient PvE content.
I don't like the Walking Dead because, you know, it's too much like the Walking Dead, and I love the Walking Dead. Therefore, I felt the Walking Dead underwhelmed me quite a bit. I just didn't want it to be so much like the Walking Dead, which is amazing.
The Walking Dead is so overrated. I prefer The Walking Dead.
Activision, as this seemingly demonized publisher, must be absolutely loving the fact that they managed to pick one of the most beloved developers to, so perfectly, hide behind.
this game is going to be so amazing. 4.6 million players in the beta alone is crazy. this game is gonna break some records
the beta certainly changed the opinion the alpha left on me which is a positive thing.
They were exactly the same other than weapons did more damage in the Alpha.. That and they opened up a new map for 2 hours, oh and the Iron Banner events. Ok, so they were not exactly the same but besides those differences they were exactly the same..lol
hehe i think i just saw and did more in the beta. i had limited time in the alpha and it felt like forever to get going but in the beta it seemed i was in in the action and doing more in a much shorter amount of time with more stuff. maybe its just because i knew what to expect the second time but i definitely had more fun.
I actually joined a small clan for this game. Me, a purely solo gamer, even in MP games I'm a lone wolf. The end game Raids seem too good to miss out on. Plus the weekly nightfall missions sound like they will require some team work. I'm very much looking forward to Destiny.
"Plus the weekly nightfall missions sound like they will require some team work" Shame theres not a way to do them by your self...even the events which happen on the map require you to have buddies around you. There should always be a way to overcome an objective in different play styles.
Is it a good game - Yes Is it a good shooter - Yes Is it fun - Yes Will it last long - With friends yeah Has it justified the hype - Nope I really feel like they focused way too much of the competitive side of the online. If I was them I would have focused on the single player and the co-op. With these kinds of universe they build, with all it's mytho and backstories it's should of been a single player game with co-op elements. They focused way too much on trying to do everything and please everyone What they need to do in my opinion is write into the story, someway how your Ghost is damaged and when you fix him he gets a different voice. Good way to get a better voice actor.
Your Ghost is a ROBOT. He is supposed to sound like a robot. A "better" voice actor must also sound like a robot to be right for the role. So critisizing Peter D. for sounding like a robot seems silly to me...
There's acting like a robot then acting like someone who is bored and can't wait to get his hands on that sweet hefty pay check at the end of the session. The reason they've made it more robotic is because Peters voice acting was so bad they had to try and put sound effects over it. The robotic voice effect is a way to mask how bored Peter sounds. They could of done it anyway, the technology in this game is very impressive and advanced...why the hell has the Traveller produced a Robot companion like Ghost which sounds outdated to the Traveller himself and the other technology around you. It's like an average PC being in a room full of updated Macs...it's out of place. If they had a better voice actor they could of created an AI to be just as good as Cortana or Guilty Spark...hell Spark had a sound effect over him and his voice acting was fantastic.
A good game✔ a great shooter✔ a fun game✔ last long with friends✔ so how isn't the game delivering on its hype? Have you played all its content to know? You just praised the beta for being good, fun and enjoyable... My head hurts Voice actors for robots in a science fiction game being a negative? People loving Halo and Borderlands and complaining that it's a fusion of both... I can't, I just can't!
Just because something is fun and that doesn't mean it justifies the hype. It's a great game but nothing special. As I've said it's trying to play all three fields - Single player, Competitive, Co-op and that's it's downfall.
This game has potential but there just isn't enough content. They are trying to do much in so many different areas without excelling in any of them. Versus multiplayer is unnecessary and would be better introduced in Destiny 2. That is how go from one sequel to the next.
I didn't realise youd played it start to finish. Christ , the people criticising this game are making some massive assumptions. You don't like the game? That's up to you. No need to try and justify it with nonsense. Go play something else. I think it will be outstanding....... Based on what I have played.
Good thing you only played 4 story missions... HALF of Earth, and ONLY 4 of 11 multiplayer maps and ONE multiplayer match type. I mean 4 story missions and 4 maps is ALL the full game is gonna be when the game launches on Sept 9... Yep, Bungie is gonna sell the beta on 9/9 and call it a day! 😩. How on earth do you know what's too little content... Ground Zeroes is a game with too little content and it's charged with an unforgivable coat of entry... And you get a beta that provided more than 50+ hours of content and you complain and say this is all the game has to offer? When did you get the full release to know it's a small game?
Cautiously optimistic about this game. I am on PS4, so send a friend request for raids!
Who want's to join my clan?
I could. PSN Battle_Torn
Destiny Bad things: Snap Assist, Generic Enemys, Ugly weapons, Boring Campaign Good Things: Customization 7 out of 10
I just really want the story to be good.
I must be the outsider.. Every time I read the comment thread on anything related to destiny.. The feedback is always negative.. I personally wasn't a huge fan of halo.. And I was never really excited for destiny.. And yet once I played the beta I literally could not stop playing.. I thought it was fun and addicting, also innovative. It definitely changed my stance.. I've never been this anxious for a game release. It was surprising to see how disappointed people were with the beta... People spoke as if they played the full game. It's a goddamn beta.. The whole point is to insure a quality product based on the feedback us gamers give. Some people just love to complain.. It's hilarious how some people act like they are being forced to buy the game.. If it's not for you why waste your time and energy bitching and complaining about a game (beta) you don't like..It's beyond my comprehension .. Maybe you could use that time and energy to utilize constructive criticism, bungie would be more receptive.. The message is lost when you whine like a 7 year old that got tv privileges taken away.
Well said. I'm totally on the same page.
