It may be safe to say that Sony has ambitious plans with the PlayStation 3 in 2006. Priced at $599, this was supposed to be the ‘next-gen’ high-definition upgrade to the PlayStation 2. However, in its first few years, the Cell-powered black beauty had to endure quite a few growing pains. Most of those growing pains were healed by following suit of rival Microsoft’s strategy with the Xbox 360.
Huzaifa from eXputer: "Thanks to the recent PlayStation Store promotion, these seven games with discounted pricing are worth a shot any day of the week."
Genuine Enabling Technology was seeking damages, claiming the tech allowing PlayStation consoles and controllers to communicate infringes its rights.
Sounds like patent trolling they tried the same thing against Nintendo with the same pattern.
Motion and control input traversing over higher and lower frequencies seperate from each other allowing the controller to do both
So to recoup the money Genuine is going to take on Nintendo or Microsoft next. I hate patent lawyers they are some of the worst bottom feeders out there.
Hanzala from eXputer says, "PlayStation's recent bug is a critical reminder of just how uncertain digital games are, and why physical media and ownership are crucial."
And now that discs can hold an entire library of games there's no need for digital licenses.
I always go physical unless it's something that will never get released on disc like some small indie game that will never get a physical release.
Always go physical when you can. Let this be a lesson. Digital is more convenient but has serious cons.
I’m always physical on console and wish I could be on PC. Thankfully Steam handles licenses better than most digital stores. Even if the game gets pulled from the store for some reason it’s still available to me to download.
I always buy physical when available. Unless it’s the 1.99 snow mobile game I bought digitally last week. If I’m making an expensive purchase it’s always been a physical copy I can put in my library
The PlayStation 3 is the best console of last generation "in my opinion." MGS4, Uncharted Trilogy, TLoU, Ni No Kuni, Demon's Souls, Heavy Rain, God of War III, etc. It just had the most diverse line-up of exclusives in addition to the awesome multi-plats. While it did play catch up in the beginning, the end result was amazing.
Everywhere but the U.S.. And then that was only for the first few years because the 360 launched a year before.
It did amazingly all things considered. It's almost tied with the 360 in sales with a year less time on the market.
Well Xbox 360 had a big head start that caused them to win in US but their failure rate left such a bad taste in fans mouth that caused fans to jump ship to the PS4. Last few Xbox 360 years also became about the casual gamer and Sony regardless of their over priced console never abandoned their main fanbase. 360 helped put a bad rep on Xbox One before it was even released.
It played catch up and then it played over-take.
The best games/exclusives were on ps3. Source: meta critic
