Sony will be releasing their Playstation Now BETA to the public tomorrow in North America for all PS4 users and is set to start with 100 games.
Very excited, I hope Sony and publishers understand how to price the games better and what subscriptions to offer after this open beta
Prices went down :D
Does the update have EA Access like Xbox One.
ok. 2 dollars a day rental to price competitively with redbox would make 100x more sense
EPIC!!!! EA Access Slayer!
@deadrabbits EA access not on ps4 :/
If it's something like netflix, a monthly subscription of $10-$15 than I'd say, why not. But if you have to pay/game than they can stick it where the sun don't shine.
Eventually i believe a subscription model will develop for certain games kind of like ONLIVE.
@tbone567 You realize it could have EASILY been on PS4..its not like EA picked Microsoft over Sony. Here is the proof: Sony DENIED EA Sony's Comments on EA: "We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect. PlayStation Plus memberships are up more than 200% since the launch of PlayStation 4, which shows that gamers are looking for memberships that offer a multitude of services, across various devices, for one low price. We don’t think asking our fans to pay an additional $5 a month for this EA-specific program represents good value to the PlayStation gamer." Full Article Explaining why Sony said no To EA access ON PS4: http://gamerant.com/sony-ea... @below...Damage control when EA and sony both confirmed it? read the article before you look like a moron.
Angels good damage control that, haha
Thrust and tbone ea sucks.
@ Angels, The other reason Sony didn't mention was that it is a conflict of interest. With Playstation Now coming why would Sony allow EA Access?
@Angels, you realize tbopne's onl;y purpose is to troll. He isn't interested in minor issues such as facts or the truth. He only wants something that satisfies his ego and beleif that he is backing the right console. He is trying to ignore the fact that MS has told him one lie after another. "It will not work without Kinect" "We have no intention of selling the Xbox without Kinect" You can add a hundred more. Yet he still believes whatever he is told. What does that say about such people? Considering the size of the library we are looking at with PS Now, it really isn't much of a comparison, let alone a contest. EA versus the rest of the industry. Didn't people learn anything from BF4?
@tbone567 Don't you worry about PS Now, because surely EA Access will save the Xbone! :P OT: Can't wait to take this for a spin. 100 games is a great starting point. I hope the lag isn't bad with everyone jumping on board at once to test.
@Angels Thrust can't read and makes stuff up. He tried telling me COD Ghost was confirmed 1080p 60fps on X1.
You will still be paying fifteen dollars for a rental of a game that costs ten dollars used, at times.
Is EA Access MS's answer to PSNow? That would be lame of them, they should just make a streaming service for Xbox. I don't think Sony wanted EA Access...
It already has over 80 games in it so i'll be checking out what new games get added. MGS4 is in there for $14.99 for 90 days, it's not a bad price if you only have a PS4.
Oh my god $1.99 for 4 hours of gameplay, sony you are a genius. Playstation..Now is a failure. Beta or Not
Will check it out
It will be interested to see how much lag there is. I hope they beefed up their servers because there is going to be a ton of streaming starting tomorrow.
I was using it a few weeks ago and played it non stop for a few hours several times over a week, there wasn't a single instance of lag. I was quite surprised. My internet is quite fast and typically has very low latency, still I was expecting at least the occasional hiccup but it never arrived.
hmm, I have fantastic internet and I'm wired, yet I get horrific latency to the point where it's unplayable. Perhaps their servers are just not location friendly for me
I expect the servers are still in limited deployment, so it's not going to work well for everyone. But then no matter what there will always be people for which it just won't work well.
^ Same here. For me, personally, I get no noticeable lag. It's pretty cool, they just need to adjust the pricing model.
you'll be pleasantly surprised at how fast these PSNow servers are.I never encounter any lag either but my PS3 has froze while playing at times, that should be expected . I'm not just talking how the game plays but everything like pulling your xmb in-game to synch or check trophies, sending messages, It's way faster than normal. Sending messages and bringing up the xmb is done without any loading, messages are sent instantly.
That's right, FY EA!
Will there be borderlands ?
Possibly later, it hasn't been in it during the beta but Dead Island Riptide was quite fun. I have both borderlands but playing them on a PS4 would be cool.
Thats what I am hoping . I have been checking the beta everyday for it haha. When did they put Dead Island Riptide on there and how much was it ?
exactly, PSnow is meaningless to me until they start including games that I actually want to play on my PS4.
Alright. Let's get this rolling, SONY. I need an unlimited access sub-model, and PS1 & PS2 games, SONY. I'll be ready...
I think that's really the only model that would appeal to most gamers, but can they get publishers on board? I doubt they can price such a service plan low enough to appeal to gamers yet high enough to appeal to developers. The current time based, per game pricing is ok for the occasional and casual gamer but is unlikely to appeal to the typical hardcore gamer unless the pricing comes down quite a bit.
@kneon Well look...PS1 & PS2 game license holders...what money are you making from those games, anyway? SOME money is better than NO money, don't you agree? And as far as the pricing goes, in my point of view, SONY can keep the prices it has on PSNow already, or tweak here or there, whatever. Put a $50/month unlimited access sub price, with a MINIMUM of 150 of each system, with PS1 & PS2 having 1080p/60fps (like SONY hinted). Also, those PS3 games with servers cut off (Motorstorm, Resistance series, etc.), I need those restored. That's not a good value? Hell, make it an all-encompassing service (PS+/PSNow), and charge the $50/month, as an option, to make the medicine go down smoother. There are ways to make this happen. If SONY really wants to get this right, they can... EDIT: I'd pay *UP TO* $50/month for the optimal version of PSNow. If they could get it lower, even better...
@kneon It sounds hard to believe Sony can't get publishers aboard, when EA Access gives you a lot of value for gamers and arguably more than what Sony is with PS Now. The experience alone is better on EA Access than it would likely ever be on PS Now. Heck, the sort of games that PS1 & PS2 had is closer to quality smart phone games being released now a days anyhow. Yet Sony turned EA down! I find it quite ironic, because Sony pioneered the subscription based free game access service.
I think they can since those are old games no one can find anymore. It will be nice residual income for those developers who own the ip.
Sure for old games they should be able to make a go of it. I was thinking more about newer games, right up to day 1 releases.
@you are salty, that name fits you from just reading your comment. EA access and PSNow are two really different services. EA access gives game DOWNLOADS to old games in their "vault" and and a 5 day Trail preview to upcoming games. It's actually EA's version of PLUS or Gold so i'm not upset sony turned them down,it isn't as good but it'll be expanded and get better no doubt. I recommend you try out the PSNow app first if you have a PlayStation then make up your mind about it, i would say the same about EA access because you've tried neither one.
All I want is the ability to purchase individual games(which is confirmed) and that games I already bought on PSN are available when it fully launches. The unlimited access sub-model would be nice but not necessary for me and kinda unrealistic.
It does recognize if you bought a psn game that's in the beta where it'll have a shopping bag on it but you wont' be able to stream it yet. I want that too since i have a lot of games purchased off the psn store but that would be a lot of strain at this point in the beta. They would announce that at a games show like Gamescom or TGS coming up. @ABeastNamedTariq not a stupid question at all. PSNow has had some free games in it so the servers would be tested, most aren't now. The beta started with just 20 games in it, all were free till maybe a month ago.
Nice! I'm excited to try that! To anyone in the closed beta, is there a lot of games? How's your experiences so far?
For the beta as of yesterday it had 83 games. My experience was ok . I have a top tier internet connection but sometimes the game (Saints Row 2) would lag. But other than that wasnt many issues . I hope they put Borderlands on PS Now.
Might be a stupid question, but are the beta games free to play? I see stuff about rental prices and what not so I'm slightly confused
I've been testing it on my PS4 for a few months. So far I've rented the following games... 1: Space Ace = FREE 2: Lumines Supernova = 90 day rental 3: Metal Gear Solid 4 4: Drangons Lair 5: Catherine I've never experienced any lag, but then again not many people were participating in the closed beta. They only issue I've ever experienced was latency issues. Sometimes my controller would become unresponsive, and in about 3-4 seconds everything would be back to normal. Other than that, I enjoy the service just hope it's successful in the long run. I just want to test the service out on my PS VITA 1000, that's what I'm looking forward to the most. Portable PS3 gaming on the go :-).
Can't wait to try it out.
Definitely looking for an annual unlimited subscription. Otherwise no dice. Can't wait to see it!
I love the concept of PSnow but sometimes I just dont know when im going to have time to play, and I dont want to pay for a day/weeks' worth because something always comes up and I cant play for a while. An annual subscription few would be good but I would love something like Netflix were for a fee a month, around 20 dollars, I could play any game in their library as much as I want and whenever I want.
if they can offer this it will be HUGE, lets see if they can pull it off given all these greedy publishers
This is the sole reason why EA Access isn't on PS4. PS Now is launching and Sony wants no competition to the dollars you potentially could be spending on PS Now. PS Now streaming is going to be get scrutinized even more so now that there is a service out there that just lets you download the game and have it on your HDD for access. Like wise the ease of starting up a game on PS Now will certainly be a focal/selling point for Sony to users.
Didn't Sony said that there would be an unlimited access model that will contain a selection of titles?
EA's sorry service with it's whopping library of FOUR games isn't in competition to PS Now...if anything, it competes with PS+.
No this is not the sole reason EA Access isn't on PS4. Plus EA Access is pretty lame. Oh but now we will have a BUNCH of Xbox fans claim it's the best service out there.
It has nothing to do with Sony or PS Now, EA signed a deal with MS. That's all there was to it.
Sweet! Cant wait to try this out! I was VERY disappointed that the only way to get beta keys was to use the E3 app...and show up at NOON (when I am typically at WORK...you know, that place where people earn money so they can buy games?). I want to see, first hand, how the streaming looks on my connection (Frontier Fios 35mbps down/15mbps up), hardwired to my PS4. If it works as advertised (and prices are REASONABLE), I will use it on a regular basis!
For me, personally, it works great. No lag. I hope they do away with the 4 hour thing and do 24 or at least make the first option a free 1 hour rental like they do with Plus games.
What about PS3?
$35-50 for unlimited access and you have a deal Sony.
Ahahahahha. This is why competition is good, folks.
Looking fwd to some Europe beta news at gamescom
They need to do a beta for the Vita.
i will check it out tomorrow to see if anything changes, but to be honest, once they put prices on them i forgot all about ps now
I'm not sure if this is a stupid question. But I'm wondering if we will be able to stream GTA V on the PS4?
Was totally excited, til I read for all Ps4 users...why must you smite me Gods of PSnow..?? why not on Vita or Ps3?
If they make a monthly/yearly subscription I'd jump in Not doing this on a per game basis
I don't see myself playing more than 1 or 2 games with this unless they start streaming PS4 games to Vita, then I would pay for some games. I would really prefer a subscription model and would sign up day 1 for that if the price was under 20 a month.
I'm psyched and I hope they nail the price so it succeeds.
Where is it on the store?
