Pile of Shame – Shadow of the Colossus Retrospective Review

"Shadow of the Colossus is a game I should have played along time ago. Sure, I got to benefit from the HD upgrade, but I think this is an experience that would have persevered; regardless of the platform. There is beauty in simplicity, and that is the fundamental design principle at work here. The narrative is straightforward, the goal of the player is simple, and yet, within this big, open, and empty world, there is a sense of life and tranquility that is utterly captivating. Each Colossi is unique in its own way, and while it was exciting to hunt them down and defeat them in a battle of wits, there was this heart-wretching feeling when the lights in their eyes finally went out. If anything, it could benefit from an updated control and camera configuration, but apart from some minor frustrations expected with an older game, I walked away inspired by the experience. I also now understand why people so eagerly anticipate The Last Guardian."

See the movie Reign on Me. Along with Punch Drunk Love its a great departure for Adam Sandler from his usual non funny crap.

Shameless Sony plug having SotC in there? Maybe, Sony movies are notorious for it, but it works really well symbolizing the loneliness and struggle of the character. I guess you'd have to see it to know what I'm getting at. It just clicks brilliantly and made me want to play this fantastic game/experience again when I saw it.

I've been meaning to re-watch Reign Over Me. I know that it was mostly a plug, but SotC really fitted with the personality of Sandler's character. I enjoyed it a lot!

I loved this game. I never had a PS2, so when I got a PS3 (60 GB launch console) I started to buy PS2 games, and boy did I miss so many gems. I bought this game out of curiosity of the cover, and I hit the jackpot. Incredibly fun and awesome.

fun fact: I did my first play through without killing lizards and eating peaches, since I didn't even know you could do that, so I never upgraded my life and holding meter.

I am very against remasters, but one game that truly deserves to be in HD or even be remade, is Okami. Just imagine how beautiful would it look. Too bad is a Capcom franchise, because that only means we will never see anything Okami again.

Okami was remastered in HD for PS3 in 2012. :)
