Abe is a floor-waxer for Rupture Farms, a meat processing plant that’s run like a dictatorship. Born into the job, Abe and his fellow mudokons aren’t really staff: they’re slaves. Perpetually guarded by sligs, the mudokons are born into labour and bondage. Until, one day, Abe comes across a powerpoint presentation by Molluck the Glukkon, which shows that some of the species are becoming extinct, so a new kind of meat is going on the menu – the mudokons. Obviously, Abe doesn’t want to be eaten, so he decides to escape Rapture Farms and try and rescue his fellow mudokons in the process.
Starting today, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is free at Epic Games Store. The free game offer runs until December 19 at 11 AM Eastern. Once you claim it, it’s yours to keep.
"If you're a 2D puzzle adventure aficionado who doesn't already own Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty on one of the half dozen consoles that it's currently available for then it'll make for a worthy purchase but those who do have it will find little reason to get it again on Switch." - A.J. Maciejewski from Video Chums
WTMG's Heidi Hawes: "All Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty! managed to do was frustrate me. However, it did make me appreciate the controls in Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee more. Honestly, if you’re new to the franchise, it might even be better to just skip ahead to Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath. At least those gameplay mechanics feel like something more from this era. That being said, if you’re a die hard fan of Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee or perhaps just a glutton for punishment, then perhaps try your luck with Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty!."
