Why eSports May Be A Career Sooner Than You Think

Non-Fiction Gaming writer Aidan discusses the eSports industry in the wake of a 10 Million dollar DOTA 2 tournament.

"Although competitive gaming isn’t exactly a new thing, it’s only now reaching the stage where talented players can bank on earning a decent living playing the game they love. It is already a career for many!

Top Starcraft players make millions yearly.

LOL and Dota2 have tournaments that give away $10m.

Top Street Fighter 2 gamers still earn big money at tournaments.

I find that first claim as extremely hard to believe.. Nobody is making enough off it to pay that amount to anyone.

Some tournaments have big prize pools and will advertise a million dollar prize.. But its being split among several games and teams..

Some can make a decent living for sure.. But I'd bet there isn't a single guy that's ever made a million bucks from gaming.

Pretty impressive to see a 5m top prize tho.. How large are teams for that game?
