"Well the Destiny Beta is back from its maintenance, this time on PlayStation and Xbox systems. Now Destiny is a pretty big game, and lots of people get in a bit over their head, so in order to help out some newer people I decided to make a small list of things to do while the Beta is live. Here we go"-Takuchat.com

Seriously though, it drives me nuts how no one is trying anything beyond the same class they started with.

ramiuk13562d ago

im restarting it today with warlock

GameSpawn3561d ago

That is what I went with to begin with. I weighed each of the classes during the Alpha and Warlock stood out for me. Their unique "glide" ability can be useful too while exploring.

I still plan on playing with some of the other classes, but probably once the game actually releases.

BattleTorn3562d ago

Nope. I've maxed all three.

FullmetalRoyale3562d ago (Edited 3562d ago )

I did Warlock, played until I got my super, tried it twice, then switched to the next class. Rinse and repeat.

I still don't know which class I'll be. I can rule out mister golden gun, only because I know my buddy(who I will be playing this game exclusively with) is picking that one. We choose different classes in all games, BF4 Borderlands whatever, so we can compliment each other.

There are things that I prefer with the Warlock class, and things that I prefer with the Titan.

I do prefer the overall size of the titan, however that is also a plus for the Warlock because I prefer the LOOK of the Warlock.
I like the flash grenade more than I like the a.o.e. purple grenade, but not by much.
I find that I like the glide more than the Titan's jump.

Now the supers....

Whew... This one is the most crucial. I tend to play games by being methodical and deliberate, mixed in with some gratuitous aggression. Short, *fast bursts of psychotic behavior. lol

So, of course, the Titan fits the bill. But the strategist in me appreciates that I can fly up, hit them(from a distance I might add) with a Nova bomb, and then land safely BACK behind the cover I was originally behind.

What do you guys think about the classes? Not for me, I'm curious what you guys prefer.

FITgamer3562d ago (Edited 3562d ago )

I have played with both the Warlock and Titan almost equally. Unlocked few extra abilities a little quicker with the Titan though. I was planning to start the Hunter tonight. So far it's looking like i'll be using the Titan when the game drops.

Stapleface3562d ago

I've only run with the Titan through out the Alpha and Beta. I'd like to leave something to be excited about when the game comes out. On release day I will have 2 full classes I haven't touched. Every unlock and ability will be new to me. I'd hate to have to play for a few days before I finally got something I didn't have in the Alpha or Beta.

FullmetalRoyale3561d ago

Interesting. That's a good idea. All I did was grind in the starting area each time. The supers won't be a surprise to me, but at least all of the missions will be. THAT, I believe, will be boring for a lot of the people that played so much of the Alpha and Beta.

JakeTyler933562d ago

I've tried all 3 in the alpha and the beta but I always end up back at the Warlock.

KingKelloggTheWH3562d ago

Warlocks are beast, I like Titans though, they look cool.

sGIBMBR3562d ago (Edited 3562d ago )

I was a Titan in the alpha, and I'm currently a Warlock in the beta... I don't quite fancy being a Hunter.

TheSaint3562d ago

Why care how others play? It's their choice and doesn't affect you.

Got both the Titan and Lock to Lv8, i like how the dungeon seems to level with you. I've ran through it on Normal Lv6 and Lv8, lets hope it has a Heroic level for end game. Simply put, I can not wait to get my hands on the full release, this is the game my new consoles have been itching for.

shay1593562d ago (Edited 3562d ago )

Double post

shay1593562d ago

You're in luck. In the Beta you play on 'normal' and a scaled up version of 'normal'. In the Alpha there were two difficulty levels above this 'brave' and 'legend'. Legend is absolutely brutal but definitely the most fun/rewarding. You'll need a good team to survive.

shay1593562d ago (Edited 3562d ago )

Double post.

lsujester3562d ago

I like to wander down into that tunnel and see how far I can get before that Level 20 wizard jacks me up.

BattleTorn3562d ago

I actually zoomed by two sets of lvl20 Fallen, past the Forgotten Shore.

I'm pretty sure you are intended to get by them, but considering I managed to zoom by two sets of the guards, I can only imagine there are people who have gone much farther

lsujester3562d ago

I didn't phrase it that well. I don't really try to go past them (although I really should if I want to explore more), I like to dump my ammo into that wizard. Pretty much pointless, but I enjoyed doing it.

Elwenil3562d ago

If you go past them a short way the road takes a hard right and you are facing a large group of lvl 20 Hive soldiers and one of those Hive capsules stuck in the mountainside. At least that's about all you can see before you get wasted. There is another path nearby that takes you to a tunnel full of Hive Thralls and who knows what else as I never made it in there far.

BattleTorn3562d ago

I misread as well. I've never seen a lvl20 wizard O.O

lsujester3561d ago

There are definitely lvl 20 enemies around. The place I was talking about is the Hive tunnels that one of the exploration missions has you scan. It's invincible but I like to screw with it until I die.

mrmonk3562d ago

I just got a code today so will Av a blast after work gona try out the hunter i think/does any1 have a spare beta code,,(for my mate to try it out to)

Evil-Gouki3562d ago

Check the codes section at Bungie.net, as it's been handing out 3 codes for that platform, so you might have spare.

mrmonk3562d ago

Will try that now cheers

DaleCooper3562d ago

I had an extra one, check your inbox for a PM from me.

mrmonk3562d ago

Cheers dale thanks a million

TheFallenAngel3562d ago

How do you kill the Halloween knights? Nothing seems to kill them.

Shakengandulf3562d ago

They are too high a lvl so they become immune to damage.

Elwenil3562d ago (Edited 3562d ago )

Hallowed Knights, you mean? They can be killed depending on their level. Sniper rounds to the face do a good job as well as a well placed special attack if you are ranked up enough. One in particular that is impossible to beat, short of trickery, is the one over the side of the Helo landing pad on the other side of the Skywatch building. If you through the fence, at either end or drop over the side at the broken railing, you will find a hole in the wall guarded by a very angry Hallowed Knight that basically kills you with one hit no matter what you do. Time it right and you can knock him off the edge of the cliff with a grenade or the Titan's special attack.

Hang around long enough to see the Fallen and Hive go into their massive battle and the Hallowed Knight will turn into a Hallowed Ogre that is one big, ugly MF'r. Impossible to beat except through the same trick of knocking off the edge, he is a lot harder to push off since a direct Titan special attack doesn't seem to budge him. You basically have to make him back himself off the edge. Beware his purple beam attack from his head, it can take you down to minimal health with even a grazing hit.

Nothing really special in the hole, by the way. There is a dead Ghost and usually a chest of some sort sometimes hidden in the ceiling, but it's an interesting little bit of fun to break the tedium of killing endless waves of Fallen and Hive soldiers.

TheFallenAngel3562d ago

I have shot them right square in the face with my strongest sniper rifle and the gun that gives you a power up and nothing. Threw grenades at them and all it says is "immune" lol and they kill me with one shot. What are they guarding or hiding?

Oh yea and auto correct changed it to Halloween lol.

Elwenil3562d ago (Edited 3562d ago )

The one I mentioned above just guards his little hole in the wall and not much else. As mentioned, there is a Ghost in there as well as a chest with the usual frequency, but there isn't anything special in the chest, just the usual loot.

As for the Hallowed Knights, and Hive Knights in general, they are pretty resistant but can be killed. Shooting them in the face is the best option that I've found, which can be hard to do when doing a public mission like defending the Warset, or whatever it's called, near a Hive location. With my sniper rifle I can take their shields down pretty easily but without backup, I run out of ammo soon and have to resort to special attacks or death. Once you get to level 8 and get some decently ranked weapons the normal Knights are no trouble but as with anything higher rank with a yellow health bar, like the Hallowed Knights and their Fallen Captain counterparts, they will be very difficult to kill, even with a Fireteam.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter330d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell329d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig330d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast330d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername330d ago (Edited 330d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g330d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka330d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai481d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface480d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard478d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
