Part flight-sim, part racer, Faceted Flight has blasted out of nowhere onto the VR landscape.
It’s made quite the impact already, especially on The Rift Arcade team; and it’s easy to see why, because this colourful, death-defying game in the sky shows great promise and feels completely at home on the Oculus Rift.
Mix Star Fox 64 with Wipeout and might you might start to get an idea of how the game looks and plays. It’s part flight-sim, part racer but designed from the ground-up with VR and the Oculus Rift in mind. The latest build of the game only features two levels: one through a rocky canyon and the other around a lush valley populated by twee houses and bushy trees. It tasks players with flying through each level while navigating a floating corridor of golden rings. Sounds easy, but the plane features an anti-gravity engine, meaning it stops mid-air when you let go of the thruster, and it stops quite quickly, making it easy to misjudge a tight turn and hit a golden ring.
