Is Online Gaming Exploitative By Default?

EGMR writes: "Online gaming is an odd mix of profanity, threats and terrible stupidity mixed in with the odd courteous or friendly person. There are almost always players on the newest Call of Duty or Battlefield, and usually a few on less prominent multiplayer titles like The Last of Us or whatever Assassin’s Creed is newest.

"Amongst these players, there always seems to be a few bad seeds – examples being campers in corners and obscure alcoves in every first-person shooter ever, and the dreaded hackers who have modified their games to give them some advantage over other players. It’s difficult to fathom why people enjoy playing the way they do in these instances; do these people enjoy ruining the game experience for others? Or is it a default behaviour in online games to try and exploit the system and other players as much as they can?" (Call of Duty: Ghosts, Culture, Grand Theft Auto Online, PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

We don't care too much for the hacking aspect. But just because certain individuals like to camp, doesn't make them bad players and stuff. If they are playing a sniper character, than camping makes sense since they are better off not moving around to much for various reasons.

The term "camping" only refers to those who sit by a doorway with an assault rifle or other automatic weapon or who cheaply amasses kills.

If you're using a rifle and sniping then you're sniping. Camping doesn't apply obviously.

Only angry losers who get shot in the head from a sniper call it camping.

Well even with that definition of camping and get what you say are cheaply amassing kills is another strategy. It happens in real life, it is just laying a trap/ambush and stuff.

It doesn't really matter though, some people get butt hurt over the stupidest things like players who camp and stuff. It is a viable and useful tactic, and for those who just want to enjoy and have fun well we are sorry most multiplayer components are ranked in someway. So it probably isn't somewhere you should be playing if you don't find those sorta of areas fun and stuff.
