In Defense of HD Remastered Games

DualShockers' Tony Polanco writes:

"Yup… HD Remasters. While there are many who don’t like the idea of these type of games, I personally love them. You could even say that I’m “part of the problem” when it comes to supporting the sheer amount of remasters that release a year. I buy them all and I make no apologies for that. Why do I like HD remastered games so much and why do I feel that they are important to this industry we love? Read on to find out." (God of War Collection, Grand Theft Auto V, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, PS Vita, PS3, PS4, PSP, The Last Of Us Remastered, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

The Last of Us RE is a god send for those who missed that masterpiece. Be grateful! And those who already played it, STFU!!! Same with GTA V.

I'm jealous of those who are going to play these games for the first time. GTAV's ending was badass.

GTA 5 was absolute garbage and failed to meet quality standards.

I thought GTAV was great. I spent many hours on it. I can't wait to play it again on PS4.

Your standards suck. Clearly you live a mediocre life.

Well hate to break it to you. For those who are going to play those games are for the first time, will more than likely have the same experience as if you are playing any other great game.

If instead of calling them 'remasters' we called them simply 'ports' would people get upset?

Nobody gets this up in arms when a new game is announced on PS3 & PS4 or 360 & Xbox One.

But if you release it for new gen later, because it wasn't out yet, OMG the drama!

I Have no problem about HD remakes and ports but, shouldnt it be handle to a less talented studios? and for too old games?
Maybe its just me wanting More PS2 HDs and Not PS3s....I mean I am not the only one who want Ape Escape HD am i?

Be careful what you wish for.

Every studio has corporate wet dreams about selling remakes for next to full retail price.

If you keep buying them, we will keep being fed them. At what cost? How many new games will be cast aside in favor for the more profitable remakes?

Think about what you're asking for?
Romudeth  +   96d ago
That will never happen. Remakes are done by 3rd party studios and not by the original developers. New games will never be cast aside. There is room for both new and old games to coexist.
