Sex and the 360

XboxFocus' Outside the White Box writes:

"The most appalling thing to feature in a game, according to a poll on What They Play, isn't rampant use of the word fuck, or even a graphically severed human head; it's sex between a man and a woman.

The game industry is one that has, since its humble beginnings, always been one to strive for realism. The realism of a game's look is always important, and the well established fact is that whoever first conquers the uncanny valley will have a place in gaming history. The realism of authentic military weapons, their response times, reload times, and the way that the bullets pierce a human target is of utmost importance for today's strategic shooters. Why then, in an industry so obsessed with reality, is sex so uncommon?"

Maturely handled sex in a game is unlikely any time soon, but it'll be an amazing day when it's there.

Tomdc5793d ago

who cares about sex in games anyway...?

Nevers5793d ago (Edited 5793d ago )

...and are NOT currently having sex, I'd assume... 8D

okcomputer5793d ago

Mass effect already did it.

Nevers5792d ago

BARELY did it (IHMO)... and then kinda got burned by the media for less than you see on network latenight.

I think some people are just too afraid to have sexual content in video games. The way people are today, sex will never be in a lot of games for a longggg time.

boogeyman9995793d ago

I don't understand Fox News at all to be honest. Plus, did anyone actually see the Mass Effect sex scene? if you call that sex, then by god, what have I been doing?

hokiebonoz5793d ago

parents are crazy....how is gettin booty worse than gore?

Bob Dole5792d ago

Because booty is immoral and dirty. Gore is the American way.

PMR_215792d ago

you're too old to comment. move along.

GUS Lanzetta5793d ago

It is a symptom of the old American fear of sex and comfort with violence

gonzodamus5793d ago

That's a fair point actually, as other countries don't seem to have the same hangups.

InMyOpinion5793d ago

Isn't that what they call christianity? j/k ;)

n to the b5793d ago

u got a couple angry disagrees for that one Jenzo. not from me, I gave u an agree for that.

jessupj5792d ago

You don't know much at all about christianity then. At least jenzo was half joking.

I'm a christian but I would be fine with tasteful sex in a game. You are half true though, female christians when they are being brought up tend to be trained to have a very closed mind about sex and are not objective at all, as I'm sure you've agree. Before I educated my fiance about the gta series she thought they were just all about sex and didn't want me playing them. It was until I showed her actual real gameplay that she realised how arrogant she had been. At least she had the manurity to change her opinion, but imo older women don't have that humility.

It's the mum's of the christian and non christian world that think sex is tabuu. It's mainly because they see it as compitition for their partner.

Used to love this one, but X-Men Legends 1 and 2 will always be my favorites, especially Rise of Apocalypse. Would pay some good money to play it today with online multiplayer, back then I had no way to get a modem

ZeekQuattro2h ago

I remember buying them dirt cheap on the PS4 and then a few days later I read they were delisted. I was wondering why the bundle was price so low and got my answer when that happened.

Knightofelemia40m ago(Edited 38m ago)

Sad to say this is one game franchise next to the Xmen that needs a sequel. I use to play the hell out of Xmen Legends and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Was great when my cousin had the OG Xbox play with four other people and then playing online. Great games glad to see it reappear even though I own the discs love the mechanics of this game.

Terry_B10m ago

It got a sequel..but for dumbass #reasons as a switch exclusive.

shinoff21835m ago

It looked so horrible to. They should've kept it similar to the first two.

jukins0m ago

Misleading. This page is whats available for people who owned the game prior to delisting.

It's A Crime That There's No Sleeping Dogs 2 Yet

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Sleeping Dogs from the early 2010s is one of the best open-world games out there but in dire need of a resurgence."

LG_Fox_Brazil4d ago

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

isarai3d ago

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

CrimsonWing693d ago

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle3d ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Abnor_Mal3d ago

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

DaReapa3d ago

No. Square Enix owns the IP.

Abnor_Mal3d ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

*As per Wikipedia

boing13d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.
