The option is good. People may like the way it plays on the ps3 more than how it plays on the ps4. Everyone has preferences so when the options are available to cater to them no one can complain.... Who am I kidding though, I'm expecting people to cancel their pre-orders and be up in arms because of this.

PlayableGamez1438d ago

Generally you want to the highest FPS possible. The only reason devs give the option to lock at 30fps is for stability purpose.

Vitalogy1438d ago

Honestly I'm not buying the "ps3 experience" thing and the reason is simple, why would anyone want a ps3 (inferior) experience in a PS4?

Some would say: "but if you liked the ps3 you can have that experience"

Well, then stick to the ps3 version.

Others would say: "I just got a PS4, never played the ps3 version and would like to try it"

So you just bought a superior system that can play that game in a superior version and still want to play an inferior version?

This is just me thinking....

Yodagamer1438d ago

Its probably for vita streaming as other games have had a 30 fps cap for it in the past.

starchild1438d ago

True. Good point.

Options are never a bad thing.

Clogmaster1438d ago

Thanks!

"We included it as an option for purists who want the ps3 experience"

Now people anyone that mentions framerate dips should be banned for not reading.

starchild1438d ago

First of all, framerate is not confirmed until we actually get to play it and sources like Digital Foundry objectively prove how stable the framerate is.

Second of all, most people were just speculating as to what the reason could be.

I personally said:

"Still, maybe it's just there so people have the option to remember how it felt at 30fps and compare it to how it feels at 60fps."

So no crow eaten here. I'm looking forward to the game tremendously.

XiSasukeUchiha1438d ago

Thank you Sony for giving us that PS3 experience:)

PlayableGamez1438d ago

Why would want the PS3 experience for the remastered edition? Why would anyone want a last gen experience. Man I am going to be laughing about this for a long time!! hahah

XiNarutoUzumaki1438d ago

The Last Of Us isn't a twitchy shooter. At 30 FPS aka PS3 experience, the game will feel heavier and will have that survival feel. More like harder to play.

TheWackyMan1438d ago

Having options is always nice.

1nsomniac1438d ago

"No drastic drops" does this mean that their claim that it is running at a locked 60fps is another false claim??

HeWhoWalks1438d ago

Did they ever say it was "locked" at 60fps? If so, I'd like to see the article.

Plus, you said "another false claim". What are the others?

1nsomniac1438d ago (Edited 1438d ago )

Yes. They posted on twitter that it had "Reached a locked 60fps"

also claiming that the graphical updates were "truly next gen"

There have been many, many false claims on this project.

hello121438d ago

Has any game on PS4 had a true locked 60 fps. Yes it means they're is fps drops

SuperBlunt1438d ago

At least a last gen game can hit 60 fps on the ps4. Hows tomb raider? Did it hit 30 fps yet?

rmw2hot871438d ago (Edited 1438d ago )

@KNWS. MGSV ground zeros

starchild1438d ago

@ SuperBlunt

I love Tomb Raider Definitive Edition on PS4, but it mostly runs in the 50s with regular drops into the 40s. Definitely far from being a solid 60fps.

I hope The Last of Us Remastered is indeed a solid, stable 60fps.

SuperBlunt1438d ago

"Targeting" whats the use with you clowns?

1nsomniac1438d ago (Edited 1438d ago )

Keep up, They posted a Tweet about 2 weeks ago saying how they had given up their life to stay & work overnight so that they achieved a locked 60fps.

If your going to select what you 'want' to hear I wouldn't bother calling others clowns...

ziggurcat1438d ago

@ insomniac:

There has been no claim of there being a locked 60fps for the remaster. I think you misinterpreted their tweet, which was really about hitting 60fps, not locking at 60fps.

truefan11438d ago (Edited 1438d ago )

Exactly, I'll wait for the DF analysis.

@HeWhoWalk, not yet, but I'm thinking about it.

HeWhoWalks1438d ago

Why? You have a PS4 and an urge to buy this game?

Clogmaster1438d ago

And what will you do if it averages 59.9 fps? Will you leave N4G forever?

ziggurcat1438d ago (Edited 1438d ago )

truefan, please... Stop lying to people. You're not going to get, nor are you even thinking about getting a PS4, and your comment history (even just in the last two days) confirms that fact.

There's seriously no reason for you to be waiting for DF analysis on a game you don't intend on playing.

kaileb1438d ago (Edited 1438d ago )

Show me the link that they claim its locked 60??

HeWhoWalks1438d ago (Edited 1438d ago )

As I said, I'd like to see that article. Just because you say doesn't mean it was said.

Even doing a quick Google search brings up nothing of the sort. They said: "we reached 60fps in both single player and multiplayer". They never used the word "locked".

As for: "many false claims on this project", you've provided none.

uth111438d ago

even if you lock at 60fps, and the CPU load becomes too high, frames will be dropped in any game on any system.

Lock only means you can't go higher, not lower.

What ND said was they were targetting higher-than-60 so that they can get a smooth 60. Corrine said she never sees frame drops from 60.
