Ubisoft has released some new information about the sales of Watch_Dogs during its conference call.
"Next-Gen Version Sold 2X More Than Old-Gen Version" Hopefully publishers will take notice of this and start ditching cross gen games, start focusing entirely on next-gen.
I'm not a fan of Watch Dogs, but it is encouraging to see the sales tide turning to current gen, and also good to see that new IP can flourish. Both positive traits, so hopefully the numbers will encourage other publishers to follow suit.
Lukas, you took the words right out of my mouth. This is good news. I still have my PS3 but only for its Bluray and DVD capabilities, not gaming. I tried playing a game on it the other day and I felt like I took a trip back in time. Next gen is so much more fluid in all aspects.
Agreed. I was watching my friend play The Last of Us last night and, despite it still being an amazing game on PS3, it was immediately obvious that it was a last gen game. The image quality and framerate were just bad in comparison with games i have played on my PS4 and X1. Like Volkama said, hopefully the higher sales of current gen titles in comparison to their last-gen counterparts will persuade publishers to follow other publishers who are focusing on current-gen only. They don't really have the "we cant ditch 80 million last-gen fanbase" excuse any more. Gamers are moving on, so should publishers.
Correction... PS4 sold 2x more that Xbone PS4 sold 2x more that PS3 Xbone sales equal to previous gen version
"This basically means that while the PC sold 10-12%, the PS4 and the Xbox One versions sold roughly 27.3% each (assuming that the sales between PS4 and Xbox One were equals) and the PS3 and X360 versions sold around 16.65 each (again assuming they sold equally)." He may want to reconsider his math. 16.65 x 2 = 33.3 (360 + PS3) 27.3 x 2 = 54.6 (XO + PS4) 33.3 x 2 is not close to 54.6 (last-gen x 2) Since no exact numbers are provided, I'd just go with 10% PC, 30% last-gen, 60% current-gen.
Gearbox being the prime example should be taking notes.
(pc)pretty good for a badly unoptimized game.i like the exposure(hidden files :3)
Interesting but is this partly because GTAV was not on new gen consoles I wonder? Im still not 100% sure on this game I still think im going to wait and see what the WiiU version is like and then decide if I should grab it or not. Good to see a new gen game outselling old gen games though as I would expect this xmas and on the Xbox one, WiiU and PS4 sales will start to grow fast as people move to next gen.
I bought the whole package, with DLCs. Played the game, 18hours completed, then got on with my life. I had no problems playing the game. It was the online part i had problems with. Just would not let me play the online gaming missions and online games full stop. Seriously disappointed with it though. It was way too easy to get the weapons, cars, and especially money. You could be a millionaire in an hour on this game.
It sold more on the next gen consoles than the last gen consoles because the people with PS4's and Xbone's have nothing to play. People who have last gen systems have way more options. By the time Watchdogs got released everyone already knew the game would not live up to the hype that was built up for it. People who have next gen systems only bought this game because they were sick of their crappy launch games
You nailed it chief.
Or it was one the top 3 pre ordered games for next gen after e3 last year... But whatever guy.
PC version sold the worst of all. Piracy?
Steam Sale, bruh. Paying full price is almost painful when you get spoiled by cheap games every few days.
Bought Watch Dogs for $29.99 http://www.dlcompare.com/ga... Looks like it dropped in price again.
Most likely PC gamers saw the game for what it was. We wasn't hyped like console only gamers. With lack of games for their new console all they saw was gfx feeding into PR bs. Why you think the sales wasn't that great on last gen and PC. Most likely a lot of people pirated it finding out how ubisoft handicapped PC version to not make next gen look underpowered.
PC games are selling for decades, consoles in the first 9 months.
Game runs like crap on PC, and is knowingly gimped... Wish it sold less. Ubisoft always says "PC is important... We are pushing each platform to the max..." Right. I regret buying that game, even though it was fun. Ubisoft is starting to remind me of EA, and Activision at their worst.
Said from day one (E3 12) this game needs to be next gen and pc only. ubi could have done such a better job if that team that worked on the ps3/360 worked on the next gens along side the teams that did.
