Sniper Elite 3 Review - Inner Geek

The castle thrusts out of the horizon like a rocky growth, as you creep towards its entrance, shrouded by the dark of night.

Thunder claps overhead.

You make your way up onto the castle ramparts overlooking the courtyard below and lay flat.

Thunder claps overhead.

Through the scope of your rifle you can see two sentries at the far end of the yard – even at full zoom you can’t make out their faces. Not that it matters. This is war. One of the guards begins to walk away so, taking into account wind speed and bullet drop, you aim slightly above and to the left of the stationary guard.

You hold your breath. Thunder claps.

You squeeze the trigger, the shot muffled by the thunder. Time seems to slow to a crawl and your perpective shifts, following the path of the bullet. It flies through the air gracefully, finally finding a home in the guard’s eyesocket, which splinters in the impact. The bullet travels through his brain with a squelch, exiting his head with a crimson eruption.

His body drops. Thunder claps. (PS3, PS4, Sniper Elite 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One) 3.5/5
