Neverwinter Online will be an Xbox One launch title in China, along with 19+ other games

The Xbox One’s China launch is getting closer every day (most recently, the console officially got its domestic 3C approval). And as September draws near, we get more information about how the device will be sold in China. Yesterday, Netease Games reported a lot of new information about the console, but most interesting is that Perfect World has officially confirmed that its MMORPG Neverwinter Online will be among the console’s China launch titles.

Wow.. An american console launching in china with chinese developed games. Never thought I'd see the day. I wish MS all the best over there and I hope we get to see more devs come onboard. This might also push ms to invest in more mmorpgs and rts games. An rts similar to age of empires or age of mythology but based on chinese history&mythology would be great over there too.

If the console being successful in China leads to Chinese games heading West then it could be interesting. There are surely some talented devs over there, and perhaps some of their games will appeal to me.

If the console being successful in China just leads to sales figure articles and chest beating then I really couldn't care less.

christocolus1503d ago (Edited 1503d ago )

I totally agree with you. I hope the console does well and also hoping we get to see the more interesting games come westside.

I'll never pay a cent for any creative project from China. Not until they do away with their one-way copyright protection that constantly tolerates knockoffs of anything non-Chinese but allows lawsuits against non-Chinese companies.

Ms will do better then PS4 (as I know chinese dont really like Japanese products due to history)even now in this modern day most of the younger generation in China think this way

mmc-0071503d ago

you think an american product will do better?

Jvaughn6611503d ago

I think they would, Japan literally raped China in ww2, and they haven't been to happy with them since.

ps360s1503d ago (Edited 1503d ago )

Yes I do think so and I would know so because I have family and friends there

most do have an (imported, black market) Xbox360 and not a Ps3 and most don't use any Japanese related products (going from where I came from)

So this is to inform the people disagreeing and not knowing its facts

Truth is most Chinese still hold a grudge against the Japanese

and to say China are into their high end products is wrong, They are into what others are into, which are popular products and that's why now alot of chinese uses a Samsung device over iphones now (Korean company) it's like a whose got this product can fit into the rich/popular group of people

turdburgler10801503d ago

China just rebuked Japan for reviewing a apology from 1993. Chinese nationals hate Japanese with a passion of the Christ.

mhunterjr1503d ago (Edited 1503d ago )

I think it remains to be seen. I'm not sold on the idea that the mistrust between Chinese and Japanese extends to the technology Chinese people buy.

I think people everywhere just want to buy good products... For example, some thought apple mobile devices not would do well in japan, simply because japan has their own giants in that industry... It turns out, pride didn't matter much.

The real question is whether or not console makers, collectively, can draw Chinese gamers away from PC games.

"I think it remains to be seen. I'm not sold on the idea that the mistrust between Chinese and Japanese extends to the technology Chinese people buy."

Yep. A lot of China is into what is suppose to be high end products (many prefer iphone over android). And seeing how the PS4 is though of around the world compared to xbone (better hardware for cheaper or the same price while having voice commands, with better multiplats)...

Volkama1503d ago

@rdgneoz3 your example somewhat contradicts your own point.

If they prefer iPhones over Android phones then price and power can't be that important.

I suspect the problem here is that you want to be a PS4 fan and an Apple fan at the same time, but the contrast between the 2 makes it difficult to talk about without sounding backwards...

turdburgler10801503d ago

Don't think the Chinese hate Japanese? Here's some wonderful images to prove you wrong.

Don't think they hate their technology eh? So I guess this image of a chinese guy swinging an axe at a overturned Honda crv means nothing then? LMAO.

@ ps360's Do you have a link to support your statement? By that logic not many people would buy German products based on their atrocities during ww 2.

SpinalRemains1381503d ago

No.

He's speaking about Chinese/Japanese civilian relations, not German ones.

ps360s1503d ago

I am speaking due to coming from China myself and friends and families are from China

I have lived in China and I know from experience

PS2 did extremely well there, despite being "illegal". The cheapest and easiest to pirate is what does well there...at least when it was delegated to the gray market. I think the Wii actually did better in China than the 360 did, mostly because it was cheap, and extremely easy to pirate. PSP...did quite well. 3DS...did quite well. Common theme...cheap and easy to pirate. National pride didn't mean anything.

Whether or not some or many Chinese people hate Japanese people doesn't really mean jack squat. They will buy what offers them the best experience at the best price. It's really funny how money will change people's political ideas when it's them having to spend it. This isn't a trait exclusive to any culture, and it's pretty common among people worldwide.

For the time being, we don't know how either console will be priced in China, or all the games they will offer, or how they will market their systems in that country. It's too early to say who will sell better in China, but I highly doubt national pride will be a deciding factor for the majority of people buying a console.

Great to see china is getting full support from their country game wise hopefully some come over to the US also glad the sku's are in the 500 hundred and 400 hundred range i remember one idiotic article saying the console is going to be the equivalent of 800 dollars.

Rob_Ko1503d ago (Edited 1503d ago )

@ ps360s
who do you think will buy their products - old folks with their grudge agains Japan or young people free of this hate?

come on, it's like in Germans in Europe, yeah I know a lot of older people still think of them as nazzis, but most young europeans think like one big european family.

Heck I support Germany in World Cup

ps360s1503d ago (Edited 1503d ago )

not just old folks but alot of the younger generations are the same too (its what they are taught in school)the history about how Japan invaded China

SaveFerris1503d ago

Does this mean MS is relying on China to help it win the console wars?
