Mel takes a long hard look at the game controllers on offer this generation and weighs them against each other as well as their previous iterations. Which of the current options did he like best and why?
The DS4 got it right having the headphone jack built in. I'm not crazy about the battery life though. My Xbone controllers last a lot longer on gas station AAs. But I don't like buying a $30 peripheral just to use a headset. Both controllers are pretty comfortable. The Wii U game pad is pretty easy to use but its hard to compare it to the DS4/Xbone controllers due to its unusual size.
The Dual Shock 4 is my favorite. I bought an extra one so I can leave one charging while the other is in use (just like I did with my DS3s). Well that, and for when friends come over. :D
Ever since the Xbox S controller Microsoft got it right. The S, 360, and X1 controllers have been the best controllers of their generations. The DS4 is much improved over the DS3 but still just doesn't feel as good as the X1 controller. I'd love to be able to plug my X1 controller into my PS4 and have it work. Be nice if an adapter came out that let me do that before TLoU releases.
It's all personal opinion they all work well game with what you want please don't turn this into another silly fanboy war.
XB1 controller is the controller equivalent of a supermodel, DS4 is a massive improvement over DS3, and arguably better/equivalent to XB1's. Wiiu gamepad is a gimmick just like the first wii controller.
Pushing a cursor with a stick to type? So last gen..
Article was a bit wasted, since the author hasn't used it on their native console. Tuning for PC's might be slightly off and no rumble feedback on the XB1's controller pc yet. Hopefully next time he'll try sony's and MS's on their own consoles Definitely prefer the XB1's controller overall. The analog sticks are more precise and made from a better material than the DS4. Love the rumble triggers. It would be nice if the XB1's controller had the headphones built in like the DS4.
I like both. But im gonna give the XB1 the tie breaker for Battery Life. Edit: I gotta say tho that lil speaker on the DS4 is awesome. I fired up Tomb Raider today and found it to be cool a neat feature.
The ds4 rubber on the sticks wears down to the hard plastic and I think they could have raised the options and select button a bit more so you can feel them better. The XI has more vibration intensity then the 360 but the build quality sucks compared to the 360,they make creaking sounds just using it normally The ds4 has the biggest improvement all around. Anyone else have that issue with the ds4 or x1s controllers?
