The Order 1886's Andrea Pessino clarifies the use of the word "Filmic," and promises "a lot of surprises" coming. It's also confirmed that the footage shown at E3 ran on actual PS4 hardware.

I hope The Order is well reviewed (then again who would hope a game is poorly reviewed!). While i will likely not purchase it soon, I am interested to see whether Sony has a new epic ip like Uncharted on their hands.

"filmic is meant to describe the visual style, not the gameplay"

this should settle it

- GG are making an open world IP with the Fallout New Vegas writer
- Sony Bend are making an action horror game without zombies
- ND have new projects that don't include Uncharted/tLoU

The purchase of my PS4 has been a better choice in my life.

Filmic = We cannot achieve 60fps

HeWhoWalks1361d ago

One must wonder, how exactly would you know what they can/can't achieve? Lately, I've been seeking out answers from gamers that think they know it all, so you're just next on the list.

If the game doesn't interest you, which is evident, why come in here?

uth111361d ago

I'll take filmic over the 60fps 'soap opera' look any day.

NukaCola1361d ago (Edited 1361d ago )

60 frames works in a ton of games like Racers and Shooters. In a cinematic game like this, having a more raw film cut gives it a bolder and deeper look. I love 1080p films but soometimes that rapid resolution just ruins the experience.

Show me who can, with those type of graphics and the seamless cutscenes-gameplay integration, on console.

@Faster fair enough, i knew you was gonna say that, Naighty Dog is the best at what they do bar none imo, but who else ? and at the end of the day the Ps4 owner has access to both these games so why not let Ready At Dawn do their thing, it's their first console game and you're expecting Naughty Dog level quality from them right off the bat?? . So far The Order is probably the most technically impressive game we've seen gameplay of on next gen.

Sony Santa Monica aka GOW team, Bungie, I forgot their name but the Witcher team, Epic, ND , and last but certainly not least Kojima's team... So yeah these guys

No multiplayer, no multiple endings, amazing visuals.... it's becoming more and more like a movie. Is that a good thing?

MysticStrummer1361d ago

Bioshock had no multiplayer, looked great for it's time, and had one ending. The same can be said about many games, so "it's becoming more and more like a movie" makes no sense.

UnHoly_One1361d ago

Bioshock had multiple endings.

MysticStrummer1361d ago

You're right, so that was a bad example. lol

Anyway, many games only have one so my point still stands.

Am-No-Hero1361d ago

yup its a good thing , at least better than a "cartoon"

mkis0071361d ago

There was no need to slight them to up this game. When the order comes out I am sure we will be laughing at how many people felt about it at this point in time.

GW2121361d ago

I won't say whether it will or will not "play" like a movie because we don't know yet.

That said, so what if it does? You don't like it? Don't buy it. Everyone wants developers to take a risk and get away from COD/Halo/FPS. But when a developer takes that risk and puts out game that isn't COD-esque in terms of game play, some one bitches about it.

You like COD? Keep playing it. You like MMORPGs? Keep playing them. Minecraft or Thief? Knock yourself out. Just because a game play style doesn't interest you or fit your style of play, it doesn't mean it's "not a good thing."

Well said btw gave you a bubble up for it

Master-H1361d ago

Well if you're a troll it's a good thing, it gives you some material to work i'm sure you know..

This isn't something new... I can't be the only one who played the Uncharted series and loved them because it seemed ND said: "I want to PLAY a movie". That's how uncharted plays, to me. The intense, edge of your seat moments are done by me playing the game. Whether it's solving a hard puzzle or slaying a horde of enemies, or rescuing an injured Ellie, etc. That's personally why I enjoy the series.

I don't think the filmic adaptation into games is bad if done right.

Utalkin2me1361d ago

Well they had a certain vision for the game when they started development and im sure they made some trade off choices to keep their original vision. Is that such a bad thing?

jazmac1361d ago (Edited 1361d ago )

It is for the people who care about performance more than made up "filmic" presentation, since one has a direct effect on gameplay while the other doesn't.

Come on people are we watching movies or are we playing games?

Consoles are going backwards, the ps3 and xbox 360 had games running at 60fps near the beginning of their life cycle. Older consoles still it was even more common for it to be at 60 fps.

jazmac1361d ago (Edited 1361d ago )

wow just realised I've gone down a bubble, didn't realise disagrees/agrees actually affected that (figured it was ignores/reports for spamming/trolling etc). I guess I'm done commenting then if I get my ability to comment stifled just because I give an opinion on a given topic.
