"In really unsurprising news, game developer Bungie announced that the ESRB rating for its upcoming release, Destiny, is in fact T for Teen. " | Explosion.com
I really hope people don't complain about this. It's a silly thing to complain about. M stands for mature, not magnificent.
I agree, but people will definitely complain. People seem to think they can't enjoy things if they aren't rated M. Same thing kinda goes for movies too. I don't get it. Rating definitely does not determine quality.
It's not going to change my mind on whether I'm getting the game, but I do prefer M-rated games. With Teen ratings, the developers must limit their usage of "intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language." As Logan said above me, "rating definitely does not determine quality" -- but assuming the quality is equal, I'll choose a M-rated version over a T-rated version. (again, assuming quality is equal)
Reminds me of the time people complained about Dark Souls 2 getting a T rating instead of M
With how strict some regions rating laws are, this is a good thing. At least it won't get banned anywhere over a technicality.
Halo never really needed a rated m rating. the flood was about it.
Destiny wants to be the best selling game of all time? its gonna need a teen rating.
Tell that to GTA V.
Im sure their are many kids who asked their parents for gta v and didt get it because it was rated m. less sales cause it was rated m
Now at least if I walk into a store and by it they won't try me by saying "You're not old enough to buy this game" despite me being 18. I'm short as hell. But the T rating isn't surprising.
Most shooters don't. They like too though because it gives the allusion that a young player is doing something they shouldn't, helps drive sales. How many cod players thinks E= for kids only and they can only play games rated M. Halo, COD, Battlefield don't really need a M rating they don't have nearly the amount of themes or scenes that Fear, BioShock, the last of us has.
Do these ratings even matter, if it was m rated the game would still be filled with pre-teens.
Haha, yup. I think we've all played enough COD to know that's an absolute truth.
and 10-12 year olds apparently. *shakes fish* COD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I suppose I'll go ahead and speak on behalf of those who prefer M-rated. I was one of the few who disliked the Dark Souls rating change from Mature to Teen. Not only did I think it wasn't a fit for the franchise, I also strongly dislike the fact it seemed to be done strictly out of business, to market towards a wider audience.
Shame cos I likes a bit of the old claret in my shooters!!
It's not business wise. The lower the rating is the more people can buy it.
No truly visible blood - *check* No swearing or curse words - *check* No substance abuse or alcoholic references - *check* No sexual content or references - *check* No INTENSE VIOLENCE - *check* yah that deserves a T rating for sure
