Final Fantasy XV And Kingdom Hearts 3 Still in development on DirectX 11

Final Fantasy XV fans are going to be disappointed that Square Enix has confirmed that the game is still in development, they did however announce that Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 are being developed on DirectX 11. While fans may be disappointed in the news, at least we know that they are polishing the game to look visually stunning with DirectX is the graphics technology powering today’s most impressive games. The latest version, DirectX 11, enables the addition of advanced effects and features in NVIDIA-enhanced titles, ranging from tessellation and HBAO+, to Percentage Closer Soft Shadows and NVIDA HairWorks. When asked if a PC version was possibly on the way for the two games, Square Enix had nothing to say about it.

Well not exactly, both PS4 and WiiU use OpenGL rather than DirectX, which is a Microsoft exclusive API, SE never gave a reason why KH3 wasn't coming to WiiU.

If the game wasn't still in development then it would either be released already or cancelled(now that would be disappointing).

Someone heard a term they know (DirectX 11) and tried to join all kind of dots to make an article. They weren't real dots though. That NVidia Hairworks stuff was probably a biscuit crum the metaphorical dot to dot picture.

Bringing FF15 to PC would definitely be a smart move, even if it launches as a Timed Console exclusive to Off-set Piracy. You guys have seen what they've done of mods fF7 and graphics mods of Skyrim. Imagine if those kind of mods could come to FF15.

I'm mainly a PC gamer and I'm a fan of JRPG's. Final Fantasy and the Persona series especially. I still don't understand why people can't fathom the fact that you can own a PC AND consoles. The fanbase of FF and Kindom Hearts are mostly on consoles simply because the games are not out on PC. I would bet that this game is definitely coming to PC. Square Enix has made a ton of money on the PC with Tomb Raider, Sleeping Dogs and the re-release of FF7 & 8. And guess what? If it comes out on PC, it will not affect your experience with the console version at all. No one is trying to take away your toys.

Don't see how my English is relevant and it was only like that because i was using swype text. I'm actually one of the few gamers left who don't care about graphics, me and my brother talk about it all the time and how that focus is kind of killing the gaming industry is such a huge focus on graphics. That's all people talk about before the game comes out never mind if it has good gameplay. But what I'm saying is for a company as big as SE that has been working on the game for damn near a decade its just kind of sad. Yes I'm pissed at them for all of the delays and lack of information. Also i started off with the 3d final fantasy games and went back and played the old ones and 6 is my favorite, graphics mean nothing to me. Hell i go back and play boktai and megaman battle network 3 every year because they see just awesome games. Who's obsessed with graphics bro?

Graphics are still important depending on the game.
Certain games I agree if the graphics aren't exactly "next gen", but high quality graphics is still key to immersion in games.

I can't wait to see the latest build of FF15 and Kingdom Hearts 3. I'm sure both games are shaping up nicely.

So it should be fairly easy to develop the game on X1. Cool stuff. The SDKs should be good and mature now...I expect both games to look fantastic on PS4 and X1 .

I almost don't even want FinalFantasy 15.. they haven't made a good FF since 10. I would be completely ok with SE remaking the good Final Fantasy's and revisiting old IP's.

The game is taking forever knowing the PS3 version was scrapped & they started all over again,developing for about 3 yrs so far,we probably won't see this game for at least another 2 years or so.

So basically its taking long to come to try to make the game on par with the PS4, so there's no repeat of when FF13 first came out, and they want a lot of systems out there so they can make more money.

I thought this was pretty well known, SE have been developing it on DX11 for quite a while now and Nomura mentioned this about XV and KH3 around 1-2 years ago in hinting that both games could go to PC since any system that uses DX11 is an option.
