Final Fantasy XV And Kingdom Hearts 3 Still in development on DirectX 11

Final Fantasy XV fans are going to be disappointed that Square Enix has confirmed that the game is still in development, they did however announce that Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 are being developed on DirectX 11. While fans may be disappointed in the news, at least we know that they are polishing the game to look visually stunning with DirectX is the graphics technology powering today’s most impressive games. The latest version, DirectX 11, enables the addition of advanced effects and features in NVIDIA-enhanced titles, ranging from tessellation and HBAO+, to Percentage Closer Soft Shadows and NVIDA HairWorks. When asked if a PC version was possibly on the way for the two games, Square Enix had nothing to say about it.

This in no way means it going to be on PC though, we've known for a while now its being developed on DirectX, if I remember it was stated that its not coming to the Wii U because so.

mohuzas3579d ago

Well not exactly, both PS4 and WiiU use OpenGL rather than DirectX, which is a Microsoft exclusive API, SE never gave a reason why KH3 wasn't coming to WiiU.

darkstar183579d ago

A Wii U version is definitely possible.

elninels3579d ago

Its not on wii u because of the lack of install base. The same reason it won't be released for a good while. They definitely have a magic number in mind.

vishmarx3579d ago

lol @sungin.
keep dreamin bro.
jap console gaming market is shambles, and the last thing in the world that they care about is PC.
most of them are now getting a hang of PS3.
remember the last successful JRPG on the PC?,
the only one it got was last remnant ,last gen and it sold like 10k copies on PC.
@kingdom18
true, and anyone who truely expected it to make it to wii u is an idiot
1)nintendo never got a mainline KH.
2)wii never got any KH game, neither did GC
3)i know,XB1 right?similar in power to the ps4!
wii u would get considerably scaled down version, fans would rage and no will buy it because devs didnt put extra effort in a failing console

ShinMaster3579d ago

This makes no sense!

"Final Fantasy XV fans are going to be disappointed that Square Enix has confirmed that the game is still in development"

How is this a disappointment?
If the game wasn't still in development then it would either be released already or cancelled(now that would be disappointing).

mikeslemonade3579d ago

These games should only be on PS4 so I can brag about it and so the game can be optimized and polished. However SE will find a way to money hat and ruin the games.

Volkama3579d ago

@Shinmaster indeed. The whole article is drivel though, not just because of that strange phrasing.

Someone heard a term they know (DirectX 11) and tried to join all kind of dots to make an article. They weren't real dots though. That NVidia Hairworks stuff was probably a biscuit crum the metaphorical dot to dot picture.

PC versions would be nice, but get outta here with that Nvidia nut-hugging.

kingdom183579d ago

(@sungi sorry can't reply to myself for some reason)

@mohuzas I don't know, I just recall reading an interview with a dev saying that (could be wrong of course), having trouble navagating KH13.com and can't find the story mentioning the Wii U.

KingKelloggTheWH3579d ago

Final Fantasy XV is not confirmed, but http://www.takuchat.com/the...

Yeah... So there is hope.

Magicite3579d ago

I would be happy if it comes to PC, would be save me buying PS4 for a while.

belac093579d ago

why would fans be dissapointed? i guess i dont understand tech, but it sounds like its going to be amazing graphically.

belac093579d ago

i read the first part wrong nevermind.

kingdom183579d ago

I still don't get it myself. Is it because its going to take longer? Because with DirectX they can do more with the graphics?

iamtehpwn3579d ago

Bringing FF15 to PC would definitely be a smart move, even if it launches as a Timed Console exclusive to Off-set Piracy. You guys have seen what they've done of mods fF7 and graphics mods of Skyrim. Imagine if those kind of mods could come to FF15.

masterfox3579d ago

can't wait for 2020 to get this game. :D

Qrphe3579d ago

This in no way means PC port, so rev up those petitions

Glad that I absolutely can't stand subscription services.

Petebloodyonion2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

I don't recall Sony forcing you to subscribe like nobody forced you to go to Blockbuster to rent games instead of buying them.

SonyStyled2d ago

Pay-per-view was almost cheaper than the cost of gas and rental fee from Blockbuster. Blockbuster doesn’t exist today. Are you being sarcastic?

Final Fantasy XV Review – A Royal Road Trip

Gary Green said: With my fondness for (most) Final Fantasy games and my side goal of finishing off games in my collection with loose ends, a return to Final Fantasy XV seemed inevitable. It also serves as my third Final Fantasy platinum trophy after VII and VIII, a reasonable substitute since Final Fantasy IX is nigh on impossible to master.

Final Fantasy 15 director reveals why he left Square Enix, and announces he's working on 2 new JRPGs

Final Fantasy 15's director has revealed why he left Square Enix back in 2018.

Hajime Tabata famously resigned from Square Enix two years after Final Fantasy 15 shipped in 2016. In a special livestream at the time, Tabata announced his decision to resign from the company, cancelling three of four new story-focused DLC episodes for Final Fantasy 15 in the process.

FF15 is like FF13 its subjective people either like it or hate it.

raWfodog134d ago

I liked it. I haven’t played the royale edition yet but I’ll get around to it one day.

gold_drake134d ago

no no, 15 wasnt trash.

15 had a tremendous difficult development.

FinalFantasyFanatic133d ago

I really believe 13 was better put together and more complete than 15 ever was.

EternalTitan134d ago

Found the pathetic troll.
How is your jobless life going?
Dot worry, you will never get a job or a girlfriend haha!

Hofstaderman135d ago

Man inherited a train wreck and was expected to release this game in under two years after it spent a better part of a decade in development hell. At one point there was even plans to make FFXIII Versus a musical. He did what he could.

TheColbertinator134d ago

I didn't care much for XV and I always wanted the original vision of Versus XIII but I think the dev team did what they could to salvage the project

Inverno134d ago

And yet people still blame him for the game turning out the way it did, rather than SE for the horrible mismanagement of 13 and Namura for being overly ambitious.

Dwarrior134d ago

Whatever the behind-the-scenes went on over the many years, at the end of the day it was a radical change in direction that I could not go along with. Also why I never bought 16.

gold_drake134d ago

this is also why Sakaguchi (spelling) left.
