Will be interesting to see the reviews for this one. Super hard might just mean super polarizing. It works for Demons Souls, but those games get difficulty right. Not all games do. Cautiously optimistic.

I came out of the demo really impressed; but I know exactly what you mean. There's a huge difference between hard and balanced, and hard for the sake of being hard.

You make it seem like the demons souls or dark souls are the only games that got the difficulty right.

But they're pretty much the go-to examples of modern day "prepare to die."

Whenever you talk about a crazy-difficult game that is also amazing, someone is going to bring up Dark Souls. No offense to other games, those are pretty much the gold standard.

You haven't played Ninja Gaiden Black or Nocturne before, did you?

I own Black. Not Nocturne...unless you're talking about Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, in which case I own that as well.

But I think you're missing the point. The point is, these days, when you talk about hard games -- hella hard games that are also amazing -- I'm sorry, but people don't rush in en masse to bring up Ninja Gaiden Black or Nocturne. They come in to mention Dark Souls.

I brought up the game that people talk about as the example. Again, please stay focused on the point of the post, not what you misconstrue as some kind of argument about what games do and don't have excellently designed difficulty.

If I walk onto a gaming forum right now and say "Hey guys! Wanting to get back into gaming! What games are like, really really hard but feel awesome to play!"
...You know I'm going to get 100 recommendations for Dark Souls.
